Artemis Rising - Interview

Bandfoto

Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you a new interview to the Metalcore band Artemis Rising from Germany. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview and also like their FACEBOOK PAGE  cause these band is epic.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

If you believe it or not we actually HAD something in mind with our band name  Our name comes from the Greek goddess "Artemis". She's the goddess of hunting and the guardian of women and children. With "Artemis Rising" we imagine, that this rather harmless and peaceful goddess rises up far above her actual status to overshadow everything else. She doesn't use her abilities for her proper duties, but instead for achieving power and recognition. We try to perform this warlike and energetic atmosphere with our music.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We actually didn't want to play this genre, we just play the music that feels right for us and that we like to play. Apparently this results into some kind of Metalcore, because of our musical background. But what you will hear on our upcoming EP is, that we don't want to fit in one specific genre as we just make the music we want to. There are many parts influenced by other genres.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Dennis (guitar), Tobi (drums) and Kevin Vorwerk (bass) played together in another band before. We knew that Kevin Rieckmann (guitar) and Wim (vocals) existed, but beside that we met them the first time as we were searching for a guitarist and a vocalist.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Tobi: Periphery/Intervals/Auras I cannot choose one of them over the other.

Wim: Memphis May Fire Kevin

V: Born Of Osiris/August Burns Red/The Korea

Dennis: Parkway Drive/Blink 182/More Than A Thousand

Kevin R: Oceano/Parkway Drive/Emmure

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Normally it starts with one specific part that we played while improvising. It's like “Hey man that was cool! Let's try this again but this time try to play another beat to it, etc.” Then we think about how we could write a song around that. When we have a rough idea of the instrumentals we record them and our singer Wim writes most of the lyrics outside of our rehearsals.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in Buchholz near Hamburg in Northern Germany. The show was called "Victim Solidarity Night" and it was our second  time there. Pretty cool crowd there, you have to check them out!

7. Where would you like to act?

Every big festival would be a big dream of us, for example Wacken, Impericon, With Full Force, etc.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It would be amazing to have a feature with "Rammstein", very powerful and aggressive live band.

9. Whom not?

Surely NOT Nicki Minaj

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Tobi: I played a lot of little solo performances since I was 8 years or so and also played many gigs with the school bigband so I think you can manage your stage fright by performing a lot on stage. Best tip I can give beside that is to do a focused warm up before your gig and to arrive early to acclimate and relax.

Dennis: I did not play on so many stages but what gives me safety is when we practice a lot before gigs. And do a good warm-up!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Dennis: August Burns Red, Adept, As Blood Runs Black

Tobi: August Burns Red and their drummer Matt Greiner gave me a very big influence. His power drumming is very impressive and the band still plays the coolest breakdowns you could imagine. I'm also influenced by a lot of modern Progmetal/Djent stuff in terms of filling the songs with detailed and dynamic drums.

Wim: A lot of Post-Hardcore bands.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

One fan asked us to do a Justin Bieber “Boyfriend” acoustic cover.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We think that our fans are absolutely amazing! We didn't play that many shows until now but at every one of them they were partying hard in front of our stage. The feedback of our fans helps us a lot to improve our songs and live performances, so we really appreciate that! There's always an extra boost of motivation after every gig. Thank You!

14. What do you think of our site?

It's very cool that there is a place on your site for smaller bands that really need this kind of promotion. And we also like that you have interviews with bands all over Europe. Keep it going that way!

15. Something to add?

Yeah, of course. First of all we want to thank you to do this little interview with us and also all the people that'll read it. You can find us and our music on facebook.com/artemisrisingband and we would be happy when you tell us if you like our music. We will release our first EP "Your Gods Won't Safe You Now" on May 9 2014 and planned a big release show in Northern Germany, for more details visit our site!
