Illuminate Me - I Have Become A Corpse (2014) (Review)

Introduction

Illuminate Me is a 5-piece punk/metalcore band, formed in 2012, and we're going to review their very first album on Tragic Hero Records.

It's pretty different to all I reviewed before, and you really need to listen to it, 'cause it's an OVNI there. It's like, take some punk, hardcore, mix all together, and see what we'll have. Whether you like it or not, it's really something interesting.

Review

Vocals

It's good. Standard, but good. But, there's some times, it's quite excellent. Like, it reminds me of Landon Tewers in "West Side Artgoon Craigslist Killa" and that's really a cool thing. Chris Murray really did a great job there. You can understand all of the lyrics 'cause he pronounce really well, that's cool to hear. he can do some high screams, yells, growls...
Don't think I could say more. It's great, powerful, and lyrics are sometimes repetitive, but they give an atmosphere to the whole song. Look at "I Have Become A Corpse"'s lyrics, it's the same thing over and over, but that still great. It's varied, and that's all I could ask.

Instrumental

"West Side Artgoon Craigslist Killa" 0:40. It quite summarize the whole album. It's just, a mix between punk and hardcore, and sometimes, metalcore. It's sooo hard to describe, you really have to listen to it by yourself. But I'm really not into it, It's like to me, the same riff over and over again. Not bad, but that's not my thing. But yeah, there's some parts that really gives a + to this album, and some songs that have almost nothing, really inequal to me.
