Silhouettes E.C - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Metalcore/Post-Hardcore band Silhouettes E.C from Spain, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Hi guys! First of all, we want to thank you for this interview. The name of the band came from the Thrice's song “Silhouette”, it was the first song we ever played. We feel identified with the song, and we love it.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
We have always listened to this kind of music, but we wanted to do it our own way, we try to make something very personal, unique, and enjoyable. Our style has a lot of melodies, structure and rhythm changes… and it is powerful at the same time.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
David and Borja (drums and guitar respectively) played together in another band years ago, but they wanted to form their own band, so they asked Abel (Guitar), who was a good friend of David and Borja. At the beggining it was not a serious band, but at the end it become an interesting Project. Lamberto (Bass) played in other band, which broke up, and the former members knew him, so we asked him to join the band to be the substitute of Abel, because he is going to study in another city, so he won't be able to play with us every week, now he is playing the bass as a substitute, because we haven't found a definitive bassist, yet. He is a guitarist, so we want to keep him as the “third guitar” when we find a “real bassist", because our style has a lot of melodies and it would be great to experience with three guitars. But we are not very sure to keep him in the band… because he doesn’t eat meat, so we call him the flowerbass. (Laughs); And Jorge (Voice), we call him J-J, was a friend of Vicente Doñate (Betrayed vocalist), a good friend of the band, so he came one day to sing with us after one year playing without a singer, we were impressed by his powerful voice, and he loved the songs we had composed.
4. Each band member favourite band?
David- Thrice, Underoath, Incubus, Taking back sunday, The Used, Silverstein Borja- Thrice, Underoath Abel- My favorite bands are animals as leaders, architects, parkway drive, poison the well, etc… Lamberto- I’m a huge punk/rock early 2000’s fan so I would go with The Used, My Chemical Romance, Norma Jean, The Get Up Kids, Avenged Sevenfold, Anti-Flag, Foo Fighters and that kind of music. Jorge- More Than Life, While She Sleeps, Asking Alexandria
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We get inspired by our own experiences in life, when we arrive to our rehearsal, we sit down, take our instruments, attenuate the light, and that is when we talk with the instruments. In that moments is when good and bad ideas start to arise, it depends on how we feel. We always try not to scrap any idea because when it comes, it has a reason to stay with us, and, although at first glance it can seem a bad idea, finally it can become cool. We always compose the base of the song at first, and we just modify it slowly through the constant rehearsals, changing its structures, rhythms and melodies to finally make something that represents us. A little piece of us in each song.
6. Where was your last gig?
This week, in Valencia (Spain) at Die fest (Brain to crush) with Our Theory and Kadinja. Two great bans of Europe!, The nexts are in Villareal (Spain) with Seasons and Reversed & Reflected, and in Murcia (Spain) with Moments, Blind Sight and My Last Sundown.
7. Where would you like to act?
One of our dreams is to play at Vans Warped Tour, travelling all around the world playing our music with bands we always listened to and admired.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Oooh, that’s a difficult question! We would like to act with either of our favorite bands… From our country we would love to play with Teksuo and Left in the wake, for example… they are great bands from here, and talking about internacional bands, we would like to share stage with Parkway Drive, Atreyu, Thrice, Underoath (when they were still together), Armor for sleep, Architects, Bring me the horizon… the list would never end!! (laughs)
9. Whom not?
With any prideful band who thinks they are better than any other. We hate those who think they are superior. Music is for enjoying, not to compete each other.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Well, the firsts shows are always frightning, but if you have worked hard before, rehearsing a lot, focusing in what does not fit at all... you don't have to be afraid... but anyways, we are human, we fail, so when something is going wrong during a show, it's hard to keep calm, and you get deceived, because of failing after all your work, but in life we learn from mistakes. Contancy is the secret.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
We are inspired by many bands, every member has different references, so we when we put everything together, is what makes us who are as a band. The rythms of Aaron Gillespile (ex Underoath), the voice lines of Sam Carter (Architects), the riffs of Teppei Teranishi (Thrice), The bass lines of Nic (Northlane) and the actitude of bands like Parkway Drive, the first time they came to Spain, so far from their home, only about 30 people went to their show, years latter, they came back and all their shows were sold out, that shows how important is to never give up.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Well, it's too soon to talk about our fans (laughs) we are still getting known, the only people we can call fans are our friends that support us from the beggining and try to share our music, we hope to can talk about weird thing that our fans told us soon (more laughs)
13. What do you think of your fans?
We talked about them in the last question, but in conclusion, they are the most important found in a band, without them anything has sense, the give you the strenght to keep on with the project.
14. What do you think of our site?
You do an amazing job, helping bands that begin to try to get known, sharing news with the people about their favourite bands. In your site there is a list of promoters for any band of europe can perform. We love to see how there is people like you, that helps to keep music of these genres alive, helping to the bands to get known out of their countries, We specially recomend your blog.
