Aphelion - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Hardcore/Metal band Aphelion from USA, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
1. Bands names were always something we were on the fence about because we never wanted anything any other band had, you know? We didn't want something that was expected, I guess you can say. Our first bands name was Convections which we were cool with but we grew a little out of it. i'm a little bit of a astronomy nerd I guess, so one day I suggested Aphelion(which means the furthest point away from the sun) and everyone was into it and its meaning. I mean, it doesn't mean anything particular but it just fits us so we are running with it lol
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Well, we like to think we are a blend of the sounds we all personally like. We all love heavy music and its something we have fun and really enjoy doing, so why not? If the shoe fits wear it, right?
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Uhhh nah lol me and Josh(guitars, samples) met through a mutual friend. He knew me and Josh were looking to start a project so he introduced us 3-4 years back. We immediately clicked and have been real good homies since. Jahi(guitars) we met through a forum on facebook(I think) maybe a year ago and he has been apart of this family since, as well.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Danny- The Dillinger Escape Plan, Meshuggah, Misery Signals
Josh- After The Burial, Deftones, The Chariot
Jahi- Rvnt, Northlane, In Hearts Wake
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I'm sure what would inspire most people; things we go through daily and how they effect us emotionally. Sometimes we have ideas that we think are nasty and will write it down. Depends really, maybe we'll hear really good album and get bombarded with ideas or if one of is having a hard week and bam, the ideas and creativity start rolling it.
6. Where was your last gig?
We are actually having our first show on March 8th at The Brooklyn Asylum in Brooklyn where we are dropping our new EP Dissonance.
7. Where would you like to act?
Honestly, anywhere. We don't really care, we just wanna play and have a fun time doing it. We like the idea of playing smaller places and basements because of how personal the show becomes, but i'm sure playing a large festival or bigger venue would be dope, too.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
I think playing with of our favorite bands would be sick and then some, that favorite bands question was a little hard for us. We have so many bands we like, its crazy. I honestly like really chaotic and super energetic bands so bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan and letlive. and The Chariot are bands I would absolutely love to play with.
9. Whom not?
Anyone who such as people. Sorry for the language but fuck that, we can't deal with morons like Ronnie Radke or whatever his bum ass name is. We'll play with anyone for as long as the attitude is right, you know? Shitty people are shitty for a reason, and those aren't the kind of dudes we wanna play with, period. Ronnie is a huge ass douche, no thanks.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Yeah I did! As frontman, you're the voice of the band its like the voice in your head is like "DON'T FUCK THIS UP AND SAY SOME STUPID SHIT" and i couldn't look at the crowd for my LIFE. It was bad lol but when I realized I was there to perform and have fun performing the music and my brothers put our heart into, that fear slowly dissipated. I get really into what i'm doing and put all of my anger and stress out there into the music and bam, I'm good to go. I would tell anyone knew to getting up on stage is to walk on stage like your gonna rip everyones ears to shreds with how much heart you're about to put out. Remember why you're up there and just have fun with it. Joke with the crowd, interact with them, you'll be surprised how welcoming it can be.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Well since its just me at the moment, one band that really inspired me to really perform was Hundredth. First saw them play Xpo in Brooklyn and there was this intensity that was insane, it captivated me to no end. Chadwick puts his whole soul out there its really admirable, I loved the performance. Another band that always wowed me was actually Enter Shikari. I don't what anyone says, they put on one hell of a show! Sooo sick.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Well, I had a friend request to me while I was in my old band to scream out "my little pony". I mean, I complied but it was still odd.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Well anyone who's down to hear our noise and bump our music is great to me. We appreciate everyone and anyone who's positive and is down to earth, let alone listen to us. So being a fan myself of so many bands, I think fans are what drive a band to go off at their shows and create more music. Fans are fucking everything, yo.
14. What do you think of our site?
Your site is fucking siiiiiick! I think its great for this whole scene because I personally LOVE finding really good bands that are from everywhere and anywhere. Its good exposure for locals and keeps this scene nice and healthy. I think what you guys are doing with this site is really dope and hope you don't go anywhere. Keep it upppppp!
15. Something to add?
Thanks to anyone reading this interview and checking us out! Come out, get fucking wild and nerd out with us. Be easy, yo.
