Mothersound - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Metalcore/Hardcore band Mothersound from USA, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Josey: The band name just kind of happened really. We were jamming as a band for a little less than a year and never agreed on a name. Then one day listening to music, the song Mothersound by From First To Last came up and I was jamming it hard and thought it was be a cool name. So I pitched it to the guys, they all agreed and it just kind of stuck.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Alo: We've all been fans of the metal/hardcore genre for quite some time. I think we're all just drawn to the aggressive and emotional energy that we feel comes best from this kind of music. It's fun, it's real, it's raw and we all can connect to it on a personal level, which is important when it comes to loving the music you play, you know?
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Josey: I knew Alo before the band was formed. We had been playing in an old band together for a few years before this. We met Forrest maybe a year or two ago through our old guitar player and Forrest actually learned how to play bass just to be in our band, which is pretty sweet.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Josey: Underoath
Alo: Northlane
Forrest: My Chemical Romance
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Josey: To be honest, before this EP we just finished recording, we just kind of wrote what sounded cool. We pretty much wrote what would be fun to play live and what people would enjoy. I took up being the primary song writer for the band and wanted to write more personal and emotional music that actually had substance. Most of the inspiration for the EP came from personal struggle and life in general, specifically struggles that we all experienced; I wanted to recreate those experiences in a way that people could feel for and connect to when they hear the songs.
6. Where was your last gig?
Alo: Our last show was at the Pirate Bar in Santa Ana. We had a show get cancelled day of but luckily our good friend Brandon from Pirate Entertainment got us onto a stacked show very last minute.
7. Where would you like to act?
Josey: I think in the So Cal area, we would love to be able to play all the big name venues for sure. Glasshouse, House of Blues, Observatory, all that good stuff. I think in general, we would love to just play as many new cities as possible.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Alo: Northlane, hands down. I think if we could feature with any of the bands we look up to, we would be stoked on life, but Northlane would definitely be the top choice.
9. Whom not?
At the moment, we can't say we'd deny a feature with anyone, unless it's a band of total d-bags of course.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Josey: I'm feeling it now haha I just made the switch from drums to guitar and I've only played two shows so far. Being a drummer, I've always been in the back and just kind of did my thing. I didn't really think the performing aspect would be so different but I get scared as hell being at the front of the stage. When I figure out a way to beat that, I'll let you know.
Alo: Yes! I remember when I made the transition from being our bass player to being the frontman. I stepped up to a position I was not ready for. I was the center of focus and it was terrifying. I had no instrument to hide behind, just a small microphone. It took a very long time to get comfortable on stage. The way I was able to get over this was just performing. You have to consistently do it to get over it. Also, you're up there playing what you love so just enjoy it and have fun with it!
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Josey: That's a tough one. But definitely to name a few, I would say Underoath, Northlane, Oceana, Of Machines, Volumes, Fit For A King, stuff like that, just to name a small few.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Alo: Okay, so we're still a bunch of nobodies. But one day me and Josey were at a Jack In The Box in the middle of the night while it was raining. And a girl comes in and goes up to me and asks for a picture and for me to sign a piece of paper. She was probably in high school or something but I went with it anyway. But the funniest thing was Josey stood there the whole time and they paid him no attention at all and had no idea who he was haha sucks to be a drummer right?
13. What do you think of your fans?
Josey: To us, they're not fans, they're friends. I don't think we've ever played a show and looked out and saw fans, we always see friends, people who are supporting us. I guess we just feel that we aren't above anyway, we're all equals you know? And we like our relationship with the people who support us to stay that way.
14. What do you think of our site?
Alo: It's fantastic. There aren't too many sites that actually reach out to support local bands and bands stressing to make it work, so you guys deserve all the props in the world for what you do to get them out there!
15. Something to add?
Josey: We have an EP coming out this summer titled When We Sleep and we have a bunch of shows/tours coming up all year, one at the end of this month with Outlier (flyer below). Keep an eye out on our fb pages and we'll keep you guys updated!
