The Last King - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Melodic Deathcore band The Last King from USA, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Our original drummer came up with the name and was really into it. We all dug it too so we figured we'd keep it. Soon enough, we emailed Moon-ring Art Design, who has done phenomenal logos and album covers for tons of different death metal bands, about creating a logo for us. Moon-ring replied shortly after with the logo and the album cover so we bought it. We were very pleased with how it came out and highly recommend Moon-ring to any band looking for a logo or an graphic art.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Each member of the band is into different styles of music and metal in general. We all kind of compromised that Deathcore would be the style we could enjoy the most and make the songs based around that genre of metal.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Everyone in the band has known each other for quite an extent of time besides the singer. We found him after replying to his craigslist ad and man are we glad we did.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Each member of the band likes the same general group of bands but here is each members favorite:
Eric - In Flames
Brett - Chelsea Grin
Taylor - The Glass Cloud
Derek - Pantera
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Eric writes his lyrics based on tons of different topics such as money, greed, dick bosses, and growing up. He does a good job to really throw variety in the songs and not just make every lyric about destruction or death like most death metal bands do. As far as musicality, each member throws in their own take on metal based on what we like individually.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last show was at the Worcester Palladium opening up the Bloodletting tour featuring Psycroptic, Arkaik, Ovid's Withering, & The Kennedy Veil. We had a blast! The crowd loved us and we got to hang with the other bands who enjoyed us as well.
7. Where would you like to act?
Honestly we would be happy playing anywhere. Of course there is more opportunity in larger cities but at the moment we are perfectly content with what we are doing and the venues we are playing at.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
To be honest we'd love to get a small New England tour going with some of our favorite fellow New England death metal friends; Begat The Nephilim, Carnivora, Conforza, and Recite the Raven. If you haven't already, check those guys out. They all play some really great Death Metal and are full of talent!
9. Whom not?
We are never against playing at any venue or playing with any band. We've played with Pop Punk bands to Hardcore bands so honestly we are always honored to share the stage with anyone really!
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Luckily none of us have ever experienced stage fright since we've all been playing shows for quite some time now. However if I had to give advice to a beginner I would say to just give it your all and rock out harder then ever. If you aren't enjoying it and rocking out then there's no way the crowd will. They paid money for a show and it's your job to give them their money's worth.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
A lot of people say that we sound similar to some of the old wave Deathcore bands such as Knights of The Abyss, As Blood Runs Black, and even Here Comes The Kraken. Honestly though we are influenced by every metal bands out there and really try to incorporate that into our music despite our main genre being Melodic Death Core.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
We haven't gotten too many odd questions from fans but I do recall one occasion. Months after the EP came out, we decided to personally thank the fans for the support so we sent a handful of them personally signed copies of the EP for free. They all loved it and we had fun personalizing them and well.. Let's just say we drew lots of funny images on them haha. One fan asked me how big the dick was that I drew on one CD so I said, "You'll have to wait and see when it cums in the mail!"
13. What do you think of your fans?
We have a lot of great fans and we really appreciate all the support they have given us. Our EP sure has been downloaded and spread throughout most social media sites and it's a great feeling for us. We work very hard and we cannot go anywhere without the fans. We plan on doing more stuff for them in the future just like we did with the free EP mailing months ago.
14. What do you think of our site?
Your website is freaking awesome! It's very cool you have a lot of great resources and you do such a wonderful job of promoting underground bands! It really is fantastic, the site is so well organized and the magazine is very cool too! There really needs to be more people like you around! Everyone needs to support local underground music more because don't forget, every band we listen to today started as an underground nobody group. Underground music needs the support of fans in order to thrive and get new great music to breakout into the scene.
15. Something to add?
We would just like to personally thank you guys for giving us this opportunity to share a little about ourselves with you! It's an honor to be a part of this with you guys and we plan on promoting the shit out of your website! We'd also like to add that our brand new single, Call Of Destruction comes out in a couple weeks and we are very excited for you guys to here what the new TLK is all about. Thank you once again! Keep it metal! \m/
