Introvert - Interview
In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Hardcore band Introvert from USA, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them.We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Jack: When we picked our name we came up with like 5 or 6 ideas and polled our friends to see what they all thought. I got Introvert from the Title Fight song and thought it really captured the essence of the songs that we had been working on. Unsurprisingly, it ended up being the most popular and we ran with it.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Ian: We didn't originally intend to play this genre, it just kind of happened. We knew we wanted to be a hardcore band but as we started playing together our songs all just started having the same tone. We all have a love for playing in hardcore bands just because there isn't much else like it.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We all met our junior year of high school and played in different projects with each other before Introvert.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Ian (vocals): Trapped Under Ice
Jack (guitar): Counterparts
Aaron (drums): Balance and Composure
Jack W (bass): The Killers
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Ian: Most of our song lyrics come from having anxiety or just needing to vent about something. It's the best way that I've found to cope with freaking out about things.
6. Where was your last gig?
Jack: Our last gig was a house show in New Jersey to raise money for Tom Alderson's medical bills. It was probably the most fun set we've played and to see the community come together to support Tom and collectively tell Suburban Scum to fuck off made for a great night.
7. Where would you like to act?
Jack: I've wanted to play in Philadelphia for a while cause the punk and hardcore scene there is one of, if not the best in the country. We booked our first Philly show for January 9th at The Nest and I couldn't be more stoked about it.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Jack: Counterparts, Converge, Trap Them, and Cult Leader. I can't think of any bands that do hardcore better.
9. Whom not?
Jack: Introvert has never been picky about who we play with, we just love getting the chance to perform. But we won't play with or support bands that espouse sexist, homophobic, racist, or transphobic beliefs.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Jack: I always get nervous before playing live but never nervous enough that I'd call it stage fright. Honestly, the best way to deal with stage fright is to practice until you know you can't mess it up. Also, try not to make eye contact with anyone in the crowd. It's always really uncomfortable.
Ian: The best advice that I could give to anyone who is afraid to get in front of people and play is to just do it. If music is something that you love then there is really no better feeling than performing. It's not worth psyching yourself out and being nervous when it should be your favorite thing that you do. If it's your passion live it up.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Jack: Between writing Detached and No Funeral, I had a shift in my tastes for hardcore. Before No Funeral I mostly listened to metallic hardcore and 90s metalcore worship like TUI, Incendiary, Leeway, Expire, and Turnstile. But recently I got into more death and black metal influenced hardcore which I think shows on the new EP. Now I'd say my biggest influences are bands like Converge, Trap Them, Young and In the Way, Cult Leader, and and Black Breath. Ian- Over the years I've been inspired by a lot of different bands. Say Anything is the band that got me writing music a long time ago. Seeing some of my friends play in bands is what made me realize that I could do it too. When it comes to the music that I play I think it's mainly my friends that inspire me to keep going with it.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Jack: We once got asked to be a part of a 4 way split with three Ukrainian punk and hardcore bands. This was right around the time that Ukrainian separatists in Crimea declared their independence so it was really worrying when the guy who contacted us stopped responding and the split never came out.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Jack: We're a pretty small band so we don't have fans that are super into us or anything yet, but our live shows are always a blast and we've had a few pits get more violent than you'd expect for a band our size.
14. What do you think of our site?
Jack: I heard about your site from a friend and decided to do some reading. It's always awesome to scene sites dedicated to providing small time bands a platform to get their music noticed on.
15. Something to add?
Listen to High Water, Ghost Key, Queensway, and poor.
