Glances - Interview

In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Melodic Hardcore/Emotional Hardcore band Glances from Italy, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them.We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?  

We simply tried to collect some words that we liked (if I remember correctly the other choices were "Freeman" , "Heartburn", "Alpha Helix") and we finally choose "Glances" since it seemed the best one.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?  

Each one wanted to play some hardcore/punk music, so we started to write some songs and we immediately felt that there was a typical melodic hardcore / screamo vibe. So we decide to pursue this type of music trying also to incorporate all our different influences.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?  

No, we met each other on the internet since everyone was searching for a new band. That's pretty strange but we immediately became great friends.

4. Each band member favourite band?  

That's not easy, but let's give it a try:

Lorenzo (Vocals): The locust

Manu: (Guitar): More than Life and Bay Faction

Nico (Drums): Defeater and Your Demise

Duccio (Bass): Sigur Ros and Defeater

Dario (Guitar): Touchè Amorè

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?  

We're obvioulsy inspired by the music that everyone of us listen everyday, but also by our feelings and our daily life.

6. Where was your last gig?  

We made our last gig in Padova (Italy) in December with some other cool hardcore bands. It has been a great show, a lot of people come and we didn't expect it since it was a Monday.

7. Where would you like to act?  

Every place can be a great venue and can be a great gig, but we would like very much to have the chance to play at Fluff Fest or in UK.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?  

Probably with singers like Jeremy Bolm of Touche Amore or Dallas Green of City and Colour.

9. Whom not?  

No one from a band which we don't like or whom we don't respect the attitude.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?  

We've probably have been a little nervous only at our first show ever, in Milan, but after the first song it was all right! We can simply suggest to make a lot of reharsals and try to relax before the show staying with your band mates.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?  

Defeater, Pianos Become the Teeth, Touche Amorè, Raein, More than life.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?  

A fan asked us once if we would wanna try some meth ... we obviously said "no, thanks"!

13. What do you think of your fans?  

Our (few) fans are pretty depressed people which became more depressed listening to our music.

14. What do you think of our site?  

It's just a standard facebook page, we try to make some updates only when necessary. We don't like to make a post everyday, we don't want to be too much stressful.  And yours is also great!
