Interviews: Signs Of Algorithm
In this new occasion we have the awesome opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Deathcore band Signs Of Algorithm from Belgium, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them.We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
It was Didier who came up with the idea to become Signs Of Algorithm. Basically, an algorithm is a mathematical term to become a solution out of different parts. Whilst making our music we go through a similar process. We combine different genres, different patterns, different influences to build new songs. So our band name is directly connected to the creation of our very own music. That’s the story behind Signs Of Algorithm.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
All band members in Signs Of Algorithm have different ages which concludes we all grew up with different music & different idols. While time passes, music evolves & new genres get born. Metalcore & Deathcore are one of the latest tendencies. It’s this music & our passion for it that brought us together as a band. It’s an escape for all of us, a way to unleash our frustrations and anger. We want to give other people that same escape & that same connection created by music.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
No we didn’t. Our desire to create music brought us together as a band. Actually it was a difficult quest to find the perfect members for Signs Of Algorithm. We had several line-up changes in the past but I can tell you that we start 2K16 with the strongest line-up we have ever had. We’re totally ready to blow you guys away !!
4. Each band member favourite band?
It’s pretty difficult to pick just one band so we’ll give our most favourite bands:
Frederick: Atreyu, Papa Roach, Bring Me The Horizon.
Didier: The Black Dahlia Murder, After The Burial, Born Of Osiris.
Kevin: Parkway Drive, Avenged Sevenfold, August Burns Red.
Yochi: As Blood Runs Black, Northlane, Black Tongue.
Roberto: Dream Theater, Trivium, Porcupine Tree.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Not one of us has a specific person or a typical thing to put inspiration out. We’re 5 different persons with different ideas. If something sounds good for all of us, we built further on that. Until now, Didier made the base of our songs while the rest of the guys do their own thing with personal details. It’s a different story for me as vocalist. When the instrumental part of a song is ready, my writing process just begins. My lyrics are based on the feeling & vibe I get from that particular song.
6. Where was your last gig?
We played our last show on the High school HoWest in our hometown Bruges, Belgium. After that show we have spent 3 weeks in Italy to record our upcoming album Harbinger. The recordings are just finished so we are ready to hit the road again. Keep an eye open for 2016; we will play shows in Belgium, France, Italy, UK, Spain, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, …
7. Where would you like to act?
We take every opportunity we get, but if we’re really ambitious we would love to tour outside of Europe. A tour in USA or Japan would be freakin’ awesome !!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
We all have our own favorite bands that we want to feature with but as we speak for Signs Of Algorithm in general: we’re cool with every band who’s not cocky and is willing to party with us!
9. Whom not?
As said before, we don’t want to shut anyone out. We’re cool with every band who puts on a crazy show & has the intention to tear the roof from the building.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Stage fright … that’s a big word. If you call it that way I would have to say no but I think that every musician experienced the feeling of being nervous or being stressed for a certain show. For me personally it’s nothing overwhelming. What works for me: embrace the stress. It increases my strength & it helps me to stay energetic during the whole show.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Take a look at question 4 where you asked our band members their favorite bands.
These bands are a source of inspiration as well.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
“Can I have a free shirt if you can touch my breast?”
Unfortunately we didn’t have our shirts with us at that moment.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Our fans are our best friends. They buy our merch, buy our cd’s & are the reason that we can play shows so without them we are nothing. They keep us alive !!
14. What do you think of our site?
We like the design of the site, it looks really smooth.
Besides that, we really appreciate the promotion you make for upcoming bands.
15. Something to add?
On the 19th of march 2016 we release our upcoming debut album Harbinger through White Tower records. We need to promote the album so we’ll be touring in Europe a lot in 2016. We definitely hope to see you guys on one of our upcoming shows. Tour dates can be checked at www.facebook.com/signsofalgorithm
