Track By Tracks: Monterrey - I'm To Blame (2015)

1.Spiritual War:
Jack:  A lot of my really close friends from High School joined the Military.  So I don’t see them as much as I would like and we are all completely different people than what we were three years ago.  So this is just me complaining that we aren’t the same and I don’t know if we will ever be how we were before.  I am happy to say that we all keep in touch and will always be friends.  I am just afraid that we will butt heads if we ever get on topics of war or politics and I don’t want anything petty to ruin our relationships.  The title of this song is from the movie Fight Club and the beginning is a clip from that scene.
2. Paper:
Steve: The song, "Paper" is a song about feeling low.  Feeling like you have nothing left to give, and you just feel like you have spread yourself so thin that you'll never get it together.  But, it's also a song about not giving up.  Like, it's okay to fail, it's okay to fall just don't go down without a fight.  Even if you do fail, you'll know you have it everything you had.  If you fall, get up and try it again.
3. Intricate:
Steve: This song is my personal favorite on the EP.  I wrote the lyrics for the song a while back and just had them sitting in my notebook.  It is about the way I view my battle with depression.  Everyday I feel like I have these two sides to me that I can't change.  One that can laugh and be okay, and then the other that can't find motivation to get out of bed and feels alone in a room full of people. I know I’m not the only one who deals with this stuff, maybe there is someone in the crowd who feels the same way I do...maybe they find solace in knowing they aren’t alone.
4. Have You Had Enough:
Jack: The title came from a line in the movie Home Alone, except Kevin actually says “You guys had enough or are you thirsty for more?” The song is about how my brother and me did not get along for a long time, and just how you can’t give up on your family, but it is so hard to keep trying when you feel like the other person has given up and you are too stubborn to say sorry.  I just felt like there was nothing more I could do.  So this song has helped me deal with these issues.  Also my situation kind of resolved itself too, which is cool.  The title of the album is from a line in this song “I’m To Blame’
