Interviews: Rising Dark
In this new occassion we have had the pleasure to interview the Metal band Rising Dark, from Italy. Check out this band because they are amazing and do not forget to follow them in their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Hi everyone guys, we did not plan anything, at first our name was Slaughterhouse but after some line up changes we decided to change also our name and Rising Dark was the name that came out from a brainstorming, 10 years ago.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
We did not plan our genre (and we will continue that way), what we play is a mix of what we are and what we listen to and this is what came out during our first jam sessions.. The funny thing is that nobody of us have the same favourite bands. Except for the masters of the genre we listen to totally different things and I think this for a band is a great weapon.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Me (Balzael) and Michael Crimson are friends from a lot of years, since we where 5 years old exactly. One day we decided to play something together just for joke... we did not expect that our ideas was going to change our life.
4. Each band member favourite band?
I listen to a lot of genres and i'm very open minded in music i listen from Cradle Of Filth until Dream Theater,Metallica or Rammstein, Crimson listens to more "in your face" bands like Motörhead, Slayer, W.A.S.P, Ramones, Dan Ross is open minded just like me and he listen to Iron Maiden, Amon Amarth, Dream theater and so on, Stanley Bleese is a fan of the old prog-rock scene.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Michael Crimson (main composer) is inspired by war, society but someone will notice that we often wrote tracks that come straight out from Lovecraft's books and past civilizations or from a fantasy apocalyptic (our first album) world. Yeah and some 90s half-forgotten horror videogames too.
6. Where was your last gig?
I can't remember where it was because some years have passed since the last gig, infact we took a break to work on our last album (A World In Ruin). I think it was in a live pub for an underground festival in Imola.
7. Where would you like to act?
We all dream to play at Wacken or at some other big festival.. that would be a great honor.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
This is the first time I answer to such a question. Obviously featuring with some of the great fathers of metal would be the maximum aspiration for a musician, but it's also unrealizable, there are a lot of great great band out there to have a featuring with. One of my dreams (and I think for Crimson also) is to create an EP based maybe on Lovecraft's tales with an orchestral base maybe written by one of the orchestral composer that I love the most, who is italian, and his name is Francesco Ferrini from Fleshgod Apocalypse. If you wanna know an unrealizable dream I would say: a featuring with Rob Halford.
9. Whom not?
There are no artists that we hate. We only hate artist that take everything for granted or the artists that don't respect their fans.. in that case we sure don't want to have something to do with them.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Oh sure, this is something taht is hard to handle even today after 10 years. The worst form of fear take action when you are on the backstage before the show. The best solution is to visualize the situation and what you are going to do but you have to remind that you are a showman so people wanna have fun you cannot go onstage and stay all the show watching your strings or your drum, you must act on stage even if you are playing. I think the best way is to comunicate with people with your eyes that will give you the strenght to complete the show in the best way.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
For sure Metallica, Slayer, Testament,AC-DC, Judas Priest and metal classic scene.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Oh that's a good question... I can remember some fans that wanted to buy some of our instruments offering more money only because we where playing that particular instrument.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We own to them a big part of our life. If we continue to play even today with the music business in a shitty situation is only for them all. We will never thank them enought for that.
14. What do you think of our site?
It is well done and have a lot of news in it every day. Thank you again for the support you give to metal music.
15. Something to add?
Yes, never stop believing in yourself, work hard and stay focussed even if life can ben difficult, in a band and outside a band. Thank you everyone i hope you take a listen to our works Apocalyptic and A World In Ruin.. We love you all. Stay Metal.
