News: The Burnt Tapes releases New album

Today marks the official release day for 'Alterations' the new 6-track EP from the London-via-Athens gruff punk band, The Burnt Tapes. Released digitally and on CD & vinyl, the EP is officially available today from Lockjaw Records
The Burnt Tapes will be celebrating with a London-based EP release party at Urban Bar, Whitechapel, on Saturday, June 3rd. Commenting on the event they said:

“We’re hosting a hell of a party on June 3rd at Urban Bar, Whitechapel. We’re inviting our friends the Werecats, Triple Sundae, O’Holy Ghost, WayfairerShinjoku Riot (all the way from Mexico!) and Dark Days performing a very special cover set as PUP. They’ll be bands, palm trees, drinking games and it’s pay-what-you-want so no-one will be turned away for not having enough cash.”

You can RSVP to the release show, as well as find more info, via the Facebook event page.

Moving from their hometown of Athens, Greece in 2013 to continue their studies and avoid mandatory conscription into the armed forces The Burnt Tapes have spent the past four years adapting to life in the capital. Forging new friendships and finding a home in a corner of the UK punk scene that shares their ethos of "inclusion, respect, and support - sprinkled with good times for everyone".

Recorded under-the-radar and in the blazing Athens heat, the development of 'Alterations' wasn't all plain sailing. A dose of bad fortune meant Guitarist Phil Georgoulopoulos almost had to duck out of the sessions after a freak cycling accident left his strumming arm badly injured and placed in a sling. However, with the help of some serious pharmaceuticals, namely painkillers and muscle relaxants, he managed to play through the pain barrier and successfully deliver all his parts.

Commenting on 'Alterations', bassist Tone Apostolopoulos explains: “The title of the EP ‘Alterations’ is inspired by the changes that occur in your life as you start to approach the end of your 20s, and how you begin to lose people, either physically or through disconnection. Phil (vocals/guitar) lost his grandma a month before recording and the track is dedicated to her”.

Produced by Jacopo Fokas (Despite Everything/Vodka Juniors) the 5 tracks of 'Alterations' throw nods to the gritty post-hardcore influenced punk of bands like Hot Water Music & Polar Bear Club. Taking the well-travelled sounds of mid-western punk firmly in their grasp, The Burnt Tapes have successfully created what could be said is their most accomplished work to date and a record which is surely set to become a fan favourite.

Earning support for their fun-time gruff punk sound, The Burnt Tapes have shared bills with many of their genre's heavyweights like Paint It Black, Red City Radio, Belvedere, Brutal Youth, Timeshares & MakeWar as well as playing over 100 shows across the UK & Europe. After a sweaty at-capacity show at the recent Manchester Punk Festival, The Burnt Tapes are hitting the road once again with shows lined up in the UK and on the continent in support of ‘Alterations’ release.

'Alterations' is out today through Lockjaw Records (UK CD/Digital), Umlaut Records (Vinyl) & Cannonball Records.
