News: THORNHILL RELEASE "REPTILE" VIDEO - BUTTERFLY EP OUT NOW!

It's a big day for Melbourne's Thornhill. Today the five-piece drop their hotly anticipated EP Butterfly and, in celebration of the release, the boys have unveiled the video for their latest single "Reptile" and announced their very first headline show!

After landing a dream run of support slots with ArchitectsParkway DriveNorthlane and In Hearts WakeThornhill will expand their wings at the official Butterfly release show - which also happens to be their headliner debut - at Cherry Bar in Melbourne on Saturday April 7. Joining Thornhill to celebrate the EP will be Sleep TalkMirrors and Incentives

Also released today is the video for their latest single "Reptile". The concept for "Reptile" was written by frontman Jacob Charlton and is inspired by his fascination for horror and what makes people scared.

About the video, Charton says, "I wrote this song based on my idea for the video, in my own mind, the lyrics were written after the video plot was created. I’ve always had a heavy hand in making movies when I was younger and an interest in acting, from school projects and plays, to family made flicks with my siblings, so it was a dream come true to be able to come up with an idea, act, incorporate my best mates and see it grow into a short film."

Much like the life of a butterfly, Thornhill have experienced a complete metamorphosis in their short time together. Thornhill’s second EP sees the Melbourne five-piece emerge from the chrysalis with six new songs that mark the next phase of their alternative metalcore evolution.

Butterfly is an immense yet intricate soundtrack that takes an introspective look at the experiences of a 20-year-old. With inspirational touchstones of KarnivoolRadiohead and Jeff Buckley, the songs on Butterfly intelligently weave through layers of complexity that challenge genre boundaries and put sharp focus on their musicianship, in which Hysteria Mag mused "how the median age is only 20 and resulted in an effort like this is bewildering".

After the band – comprising of Jacob Charlton (vocals), Ethan McCann (guitar), Ben Maida (drums), Nick Sjogren (bass) and Matt Van Duppen (guitar) – graduated from high school, Thornhill played their first show with Hellions. As a collective, they were only three months old at the time, but they grew rapidly from there, finding themselves on triple j rotation and scoring Unearthed Feature Artist in November 2017.

Butterfly is out now on iTunes and streaming services
