Interviews: LOOKING GLASS PROJECT

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock/Metal band LOOKING GLASS PROJECT from Italy/Netherlands. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Filippo: The name of the band was planned and searched. The intention of the band is to repropose in a metal version already known songs (but of a completely different genre). "See" another aspect of the same song; look through a Looking-Glass!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Riccardo: Our project is composed of musicians from different bands, from different nations, but all united by one element: Metal music. Our singer Lisette Van Den Berg (Tilburg, Netherlands) is already the singer of the "Scarlet Stories", and is one of the voices of the "Ayreon Universe" project. Our guitarist Filippo Rosati (Rome, Italy) has his own personal project and is a member of the band “Omega Zero”. Me, Riccardo Curti (Soriano nel Cimino, Italy) I am already the drummer and manager of the “ArseA” band, with whom in 12 years I had the honor of playing on many of the most famous festivals in Europe and I had the pleasure of knowing personally many of the bands that I have always listened to, loved and admired. Our musical reality is Metal!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Riccardo: None of us know (at least for now) personally the other members. It all started with me having already in mind the idea of creating this project. I thought to contact people whom I considered talented and with whom I was already in contact on Socials (Instagram, Facebook). Luck was that Filippo immediately supported my idea, and Lisette agreed to be part of it by listening to some of the ideas we both created.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Lisette Van Den Berg: Good question! Well, number one is Opeth. But I have so many other bands I really like, and it kind of depends on my mood and time of year. I like emotion in music and soundtracks to stories/movies. But uhm if pressured I'd say… Chelsea Wolfe, Led Zeppelin, Eivør and Queen!

Filippo Rosati: Haken, Periphery, Twelve Foot Ninja, Vola, Animals of Leaders.

Riccardo Curti: Dream Theater, Devin Townsend Project, Opeth, Leprous, Evergrey, Jeff Buckley and more.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Filippo: As already anticipated, our project (at least for the moment) has the sole purpose of proposing metal versions of already known songs. Movie's Soundtrack, TV Series, Movie Animation ... these are the main subjects of inspiration!

6. Where was your last gig?

Riccardo: Currently we have never played Live with this project. No live event is scheduled at the moment. The aim of the project is to create music for digital entertainment mainly. We do not exclude the idea, however, that one day, when perhaps we have already distributed a good setlist of an hour, for example, we could consider proposing it live! Why not?

7. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Lisette: Not necessarily stage fright, because I very much enjoy being on stage, but perhaps fear of f*cking up ;) I am always nervous before a gig, but to keep it under control I try to go to the emotion of a song and channeling this in my voice and performance. Trying to tell the story.

8. What bands have inspired you the most?

Lisette: Difficult to say, because I get inspired by so many incredible musicians, but I also get inspired by other arts, like movies, soundtracks, paintings, books, stories, and nature.

9. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Lisette: Define 'weird'... I have signed someone's butt once, but who am I to judge? I like creative, weird questions! In my opinion, asking for or saying things that make me feel uncomfortable are far worse than some weird, relatively innocent requests.

10. What do you think of your fans?

The Looking Glass Project is still at the first single, we never played live ... what do we think of our fans? We hope to have several soon! J

11. What do you think of our site?

Riccardo: We have esteem for your work! Until a decade ago it was almost impossible to find valid bands without websites like yours! Now the social networks have taken over, but whoever like you has not lost heart and has indeed taken the opportunity to make good use of it, deserves all our respect! Thank you for the promotional work you do!

12. Something add?
