Interviews: VRILLON

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Garage Rock band VRILLON from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It was back when we first started the band when we chose the name. At the time we didn't really have a good band name and we kept having to change it because of other bands already having the ones we wanted! So this one day we were lazing around watching conspiracy theory videos on the internet, and we stumbled across this video about an alien named 'Vrillon' who supposedly interrupted a BBC news broadcast back in the 70s or 80s (I can't remember which). Anyway, we all thought that Vrillon is a pretty cool name and we were sick of not being able to find a name, so it stuck.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

What we play is just a combination of our collective influences which tends to result in an alt-rock sound. However currently, we are trying to create something more abstract, so you might see a slight change in our sound in the future.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

George and Henry are cousins and they've known Charlie, however. They kind of knew Will in school but not really, until they asked him to join the band because they knew he could play bass and sing.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Will: Protomartyr

Charlie: Queens of the Stone Age

Henry: Willie J Healy

George: Death Grips

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Recently, what has inspired my lyrics has been various events that had happened to me (especially on nights out). I'm looking forward to recording and releasing these new songs as I hope they will be relatable to lots of people.

6. Where was your last gig?

On the 25th of May, we played both in Moles, Bath and then at Hy Brasil, Bristol for the dot to dot festival on the same night!

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to play at a larger venue, let's say O2 Bristol for example. That'd be amazing.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Probably someone fun and weird like Fat White Family.

9. Whom not?

The Wiggles

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I believe stage fright is just confused excitement. Personally, I don't get it, but maybe I'm mistaking excitement for stage fright? Who knows!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Recently bands like Protomartyr and Talking Heads have been top of my playlist when trying to find new inspiration.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A tickle under the chin.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Great! Amazing! Could do with a shower, however...
