Interviews: LAMORI

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Metal/Goth Metal/Rock band LAMORI from Finland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

[Matias - vocals]: I remember we had a couple of options that we were choosing between. We wanted something to represent the dark and mysterious side of old romanticism. In the beginning, we spelled the name as L’Amori. But we later changed that to the more straightforward LAMORI.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

[Jens - keys]: It seemed quite natural when we started the band that it was this genre that suited us. The sound has of course been developed over the years and we are very pleased with how we sound today.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

[Jens - keys]: Four of us went to the same class in high school. Our drummer Emanuel Sanchez we knew earlier and invited him to come and test to play drums. After that, it has been us five. And this year we have a 10 year anniversary.

4. Each band member favorite band?

[Marcus - guitar]: So many but Metallica has a special place in my heart.

[Emanuel - Drums]: There are many I like but never really had a favorite one, at the moment I’m listening to a lot of Jinjer.

[Jens - keys]: Very many different bands. But Swedish Kent, Depeche Mode, Ulrich Schnauss, 69 Eyes, HIM, Alice in Chains, The Doors are some of them.

[Matias - vocals]: It’s really hard to pick one favorite band. I mean, I probably wouldn’t even be able to pick a favorite for each genre I’m listening to. There are so many. But lately, I’ve been listening to a lot to this occult synthwave band called GosT.

[Mikael - bass]: It's extremely difficult to say, some bands that have always been a big part of me is Metallica, Ghost, HIM, Hardcore Superstar, but it changes a lot and I have quite a wide range of genres that I enjoy.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

[Matias - vocals]: Pretty much everything. But movies are a big inspiration. The mood, the story and of course the music in movies. Preferably old horror movies.

6. Where was your last gig?

[Jens - keys]: It was in Finland, Tammisaari at a rock bar. One of many the past year.

7. Where would you like to act?

[Jens - keys]: A bigger festival would be the goals and dream. Maybe, Provinssi, Ruisrock, Tuska in Finland and of course some other festival in another country.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

[Jens - keys]: Maybe 69 Eyes.

[Matias - vocals]: Lord of the Lost would be cool!

[Mikael - bass]: right now, opening live for Ghost would be epic.

9. Whom not?

[Jens - keys]: Don’t know, every band would be nice to feature with. But of course, it has to be in the same genre. [Matias - vocals] Lasse Stefanz [Mikael - bass] I think Lasse Stefanz audience would appreciate a good ass-kicking by LAMORI!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

[Jens - keys]: At the beginning of our career, yes of course. But not so much anymore. But sometimes when we have done our acoustic shows, that could be a bit frightening. A not so common style to play for us and another type of audience, especially the last one we did at a proper culture event here at Aland Islands.

[Mikael - bass]: I believe everyone that goes on a stage have (or should have) some amount of nervousness beforehand. But you have to embrace it, that is what helps you stay focused and deliver 110%!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

[Matias - vocals]: Well, of course, we have to mention our homeboys HIM and The 69 Eyes. And also other now-classic bands in that same vein, like Lacrimas Profundere, Type O Negative and The Sisters of Mercy. But we also take a lot of inspiration from a big variety of bands like Depeche Mode, The Doors, Marilyn Manson, The Smashing Pumpkins, only to name a few.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

[Marcus - guitar]: Nothing super-weird yet, only normal stuff like pictures, CD:s and other merch. We are still waiting for some obscure requests. [Jens - keys] Maybe when a girl comes up at the stage in Vilnius, Lithuania and ask our guitarist if he was married and then said “fuck” when she saw the ring on his finger.

13. What do you think of your fans?

[Marcus - guitar]: We love all of our fans! It’s always fun to talk with people after a gig and get their opinion on our music or the show.

[Jens - keys]: We love them, some are very interested in what we do and that’s really nice. We work hard, play hard, and do what we love.

14. What do you think of our site?

[Jens - keys]: Very awesome!

15. Something add?

[Matias - vocals]: Keep an eye out for our next single and music video!
