Interviews: Winter Nights

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Death Metal band, Winter Nights, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Upon a New Year's Eve toast. The band, the name and the notion of rocking out in a studio was born. 2006 to 2007. A cold Winter's Night it was. Lead guitarist Efrain made a toast, Listening to Iced Earth at the time, it was one of their songs. All of a sudden, Efrain said, that's the name and we kept it since.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

At the beginning as every band, we had to find our path, our sound. We started as thrash metal doing covers like slayer, Megadeth, testament. It quickly turned to power metal when our 1st drummer took up vocal duties. However, one rehearsal our lead singer Jeremy pounds back a dozen pints, as we started to climb through our catalog of songs, he belched out a roar. It overwhelmed the room. It was then, everyone in the band turned and said, that is the sound were concentrating on. Growling and overall heavy in your face punch. Melodic death metal, it has loads of feeling in it. it offers dexterity, harmony & a pure feeling of bliss.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes. When we formed, the 2 vocalists/guitars are brothers by birth and the 1st drummer Rafael was a childhood friend for many years. Our bassist Martin came in years later in 2011 as he and Jeremy were in a previous band together. Current drummer James has been in over a year but has pulled his weight in every aspect of it feels like he's been with us for several years.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Jeremy - Sentenced

Efrain – Iced Earth

Martin - 1974 Mothers of Invention

James - Behemoth

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Mainly inspired by nature, places of travel. different scenery. Jeremy gets his ideas from places he's traveled such as the cliffs of Northern Ireland, catacombs of Montreal, nighttime canals of Venice, the eerie silence of central park at night .... just to name a few things.

6. Where was your last gig?

Brooklyn NY. A Venue named the Kingsland. We shared the stage with Vale of Pnath and Gorod

7. Where would you like to act?

Europe and Asia.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Some of our favorites such as Behemoth, Insomnium, Paradise Lost

9. Whom not?

We're open to sharing the stage with any band of all genres.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I would say yes for all of us at some point. it's only human. we usually have a pint, shot, and overall cheers backstage to pump us up as well as take whatever edge off there may be.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

There is a long list for this one but we will point out a few. Exmortus. We had the pleasure of sharing the stage with them a few times and love the hard work and time they put into the craft. they keep blowing up bigger and bigger each year. we love to see that. Metallica. they've made a brand for themself. a band that took music for everyone to another level. It's hard to compare them to any other band when it comes to achievements.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A piece of long strand hair after playing a set on stage.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Love them. every band is nothing without them.

14. What do you think of our site?

Fucking badass! we're happy to be a part of it now.

15. Something add?

We love music. We love metal. We love meeting new people at shows and connecting online with people who hear our music. We don’t do what we do for fame, we do it for passion.
