Interviews: Taken Lives

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Hardcore band, Taken Lives from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name Taken Lives actually comes from the Misfits song Theme For A Jackal. We were throwing around all kinds of names and nothing worked. Was listening to the Misfits and came across the line "Spit and choke on the lives you've taken" and Taken Lives stuck.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all love aggressive music as well as the community that hardcore and metal brings.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes. All of us played in bands together and went to shows together for years.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

This is a tough one. Our favorites and musical influences range from The Cure to Terror and everything in between.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life, struggles, good times, bad times. Playing music with friends.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played a memorial show in Louisville for a friend that had passed away.

7. Where would you like to act?

We'd love to play Furnace Fest or This Is Hardcore.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

James Hart from Eighteen Visions would be pretty cool.

9. Whom not?

I'm sure there are more than a few mashups that wouldn't work well.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

We all get a little nervous before shows. Embrace it and use it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

A lot of bands. Tons musically, but at the moment, overall it's really inspiring to see bands like Guerrilla Warfare, Greyhaven, Gates To Hell, and Knocked Loose who are all from our area and who are constantly grinding, putting in the work, and growing.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

It's always weird and humbling being asked to sign stuff.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They're awesome and we're in this together.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's pretty great and a solid source for discovering bands.

15. Something to add?

Thanks for giving us a listen and hope to see you at a show.
