Interviews: Blind Man's Gun
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band Blind Man's Gun from Germany. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
There was this song „In 2 Deep“ by Kenny Wayne Shepard where he is singing about a „blind man with a gun“. This line was the origin of our band name. The meaning of it is that we play and compose music as we see fit. We are open-minded regarding sound and style as long as it suits our needs.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
This genre is like a parallel universe, which is incredibly versatile. It offers endless possibilities to test and cross musical boundaries. One has limitless possibilities to change the dynamics and make tempo changes. I doubt that this is possible if you do mainstream stuff. It gets under your skin, it’s fierce and there is no topic that you can’t address.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
As there were a couple of lineup changes not all members knew each other. There are Lars and Dirk who have known each other for more than 15 or more years though. Personally, I had a short encounter with Lars at a concert before I joined the band.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
I think we all have loads of fave bands but let me keep this short.
J
Jörn (drums): Evergrey
Lars (guitar): Savatage
Dirk (bass): Iron Maiden, Dio
Mitsch (guitar): White Cross
Nadine (vox): Blind River, Monster Truck
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
It just happens… of course, we listen to music and go to concerts and get inspired by other bands. But it’s actually intrinsic, it is not something one can really control. Sometimes it’s a train passing by or a beat or a special sound that ignites our creative fire to write a new song. I get my ideas whenever I go for a walk or at the gym.
6. Where was your last gig?
We played the mighty Wacken Open Air 2023 which was amazing. One of the most famous metal festivals in Germany known worldwide.
7. Where would you like to act?
Everywhere, where our music is appreciated and where we feel people are excited to listen to our tunes and watch us. But there are dreams to play in Spain, and South America at great festivals.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Wow, that’s a difficult question. If he were still alive it would be Ronny James Dio I guess and my personal fave is Freddie Mercury.
9. Whom not?
I think it would be almost impossible to work with German Schlager stars.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
If some of us suffered from stage fright, they would drink a beer or two. Lol.
I would suggest all beginners study their songs by heart and love what they do and: it’s okay to make mistakes!!! Don’t let the audience know tho: smile, and move on. Things happen on stage that you cannot control, you are always ahead of the game, remember that. Before every show, I do yoga and breathing exercises. I personally don’t suffer from stage fright. I am always excited to hit the stage with my bros.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Black Sabbath, Dio, Rainbow, Iron Maiden, and loads of female-fronted bands like Jinjer I suppose. It’s not only their music but the way they communicate with the audience.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
At one point I wore a top hat and this dude wanted to exchange it for his metal vest. But he was drunk and he would have regretted it for the rest of his life, so I kept the hat and signed his beer belly instead.
13. What do you think of your fans?
What would we be without fans? Nothing. We love our fans and we love it when they sing along and party with us.
14. What do you think of our site?
We think it’s great that you support underground bands. I can see that you put in a lot of effort and time promoting bands. So, thanks a million for considering us, Blind Man’s Gun from Germany, always trying to perform 666% Bullet Proof Heavy Rock Music on and off stage.
15. Something to add?
We salute you and all rock and metal heads for listening to our music and following us on all social platforms. Your support is highly appreciated and always remember:
„Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.“ (Confucius)
Muchas gracias! Thanks for the feature! Cheers, Naddy
