Interviews: Felicia
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal/Funk/Punk band Felicia from UK. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
About three years ago, I planned to do a solo thing and named the band after myself. As it evolved, and Rick (our guitarist) became more involved, we saw ourselves as a band, a unit. We stuck with Felicia as it just worked!
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
It's kind of a mix of a few genres all mashed into one really. I always thought of true punk rock as having somewhat of a spectrum of sounds, and I really wanted to be free in the writing process and embrace different genres.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Me and Rick vaguely knew each other. Beej, our bass player we found through the band. Now we are like a family as the cliche goes.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
I don't think we could pin it down to one favorite band, but one each.
Felicia - Queen Adreena
Rick - Devin Townsend
Beej - Sex Pistols
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Sometimes it can begin with just a little tune in my head. Sometimes I will play an instrument and begin to play it. Wherever it comes from, I'm not sure! I just go with the ride, write something, and then pass the ideas to Rick and Beej who play it much better! Often the lyrics are inspired by current events and social and political issues.
6. Where was your last gig?
We played a festival called Glaston-Bury. Not Glastonbury! It was a great festival in the center of Bury. Really great atmosphere and music.
7. Where would you like to act?
(play?)
Somewhere in a desert in the USA perhaps, or somewhere I can wear a bikini at the beach, that would be nice.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Oh, I would love to do something with Infected Mushroom, both me and Rick are heavily influenced by them.
9. Whom not?
Alice Cooper
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
I suffer from stage fright anxiety every single gig, at varying degrees. Once I get on the stage, it all goes. So I couldn't offer any advice in that field. I actually think a little nervous before a gig is good, gets your head right there into it ready to perform, and ultimately shows you really care about your art.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Me personally? Infected Mushroom, Queen Adreena, Sex Pistols, Amen, Prodigy... and a whole host of other random music and genres!
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Probably used underwear. But I don't imagine that's even considered weird compared to some requests out there.
13. What do you think of your fans?
I think it very wonderful we have them, and that some of them will travel far and wide to see us. That always gets me right in the feels, I love crowd interaction, and I'm often with them on the dance floor where possible. It's also amazing we have a very diverse fan base.
14. What do you think of our site?
Awesome of course!
15. Something to add?
Come find us! We always have loads of fun at the show and so does everyone else. And thank you for the interview'
