Interviews: DUNE PILOT

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Stoner Rock band DUNE PILOT from Germany. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

We sat there in the rehearsal room, smoking, joking, and listening to Slo Burn’s EP Amusing the Amazing. It’s kind of an homage.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

The stoner genre seems pretty fast like a big family with the right values (authentic, old school equipment, etc) ....and of course, because it just knocks your socks off.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Some did. Andris (vox) joined the team after seeing the band’s advertisement where they were looking for a singer to complete the band.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

The band’s taste is pretty similar. Kyuss, Rainbow, Monster Magnet, Down, Pink Floyd

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We just love going to the rehearsal room und jam. It’s just the love for the music, for making music together and living the moment. And suddenly a new song is born. 6. Where was your last gig? It was in our hometown Munich, where we had the great honor of supporting the mighty ROTOR again.

7. Where would you like to act?

Any Desefertfest would be awesome. Berlin? London? New York?

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

There are too many great musicians and bands out there to choose one.

9. Whom not?

Any Nazi Scum Band.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Sure, but that’s long ago. We all know about the band’s skills and that everyone can rely on each other on stage. Also, we can’t imagine any weird situation on stage we haven’t already experienced and know how to deal with. So we always just can’t wait to hit the stage.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

In youth, it was Bands like Rainbow, Deep Purple or Pantera. And then Kyuss came up…

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I mean, that’s not weird, but this one guy asked us to come to Sao Paulo to play one show. We really felt flattered. But it hasn’t happened yet.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love that so many are so loyal. When you play a city you’ve played before, they come again to your show. Looking for a conversation at the merch after the show. It’s cool, being so close with them.

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s awesome! Not only do you serve a huge range of genres, but also you provide a whole package of info, sound samples, links, concert dates etc. Pretty damn cool!

15. Something to add?

Thank you so much for having us on your site, it’s a great honor!
