Interviews: REAP

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal/Grindcore band REAP from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

I am always working on projects or songs, etc. I have a long list of band names, songs, ideas, and whatnot, and when it came time for this project, I just went to my list.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I’ve been playing in death metal bands since the early 90s. This is just another one of those projects. The goal with this one is to make it a little green deer and faster and different from everything else I’ve done.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes I’ve known Kyle for a long time probably 15-20 years, Jimmy I have known the last few years from playing shows /fests and such.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

I’m pretty sure Kyle’s favorite band is Gorgasm. My favorite album of all time is SOD Speak English or Die but I don’t know that I have a favorite band. Jimmy… Queensryche!!! 🤘🏽

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

Everything is inspired by current events, society, and just what’s going on that frustrates us and or pisses us off. This is different from my previous projects where they’re all gore-based typical death metal. The mindset was not politically correct, but still some humor ala SOD

6. Where was your last gig?

As of right now, this is only a recording project and we aren’t doing any live shows.

7. Where would you like to act? 

We aren’t opposed to doing any shows necessarily, but it would have to work out on everybody’s schedule just right

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We aren’t very picky we would pretty much work with anyone. I’m not sure if there’s anyone in mind that we would like to work with specifically but we would take any offers seriously.

9. Whom not?

I guess anyone who can’t handle our brutal, upfront and honest views of society. But then I guess they wouldn’t reach out to us in the first place. Hahaha.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

No that has never been anything I have suffered from. However, I do not like to publicly speak, which I find kind of strange. But I’ve never had stage fright.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

For this band, SOD, early Napalm Death, HatePlow, etc.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Back in the days of snail mail people used to ask for all kinds of weird things, and people would send me all kinds of weird things. I’ve gotten strange VHS videos with all kinds of weird shit on them. As far as a specific question I can’t think of anything in particular that stands out

13. What do you think of your fans?

Well, we are a pretty new band so we will see pretty soon what people think of the music and go from there but if they are into what we are doing, then I would like to think that they are pretty like-minded in our views so I would think we would get along just fine.

14. What do you think of our site? 

It looks pretty slick. It looks like you guys stay up on it quite a bit is a lot of information and there are no long gaps which is pretty cool so it looks like you’re staying pretty busy which is a good thing.
