Interviews: XIII Doors

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal/Hard Rock band XIII Doors from Ireland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

Unfortunately, we don’t really have a great story for this! The name has been around since 2015 and it was just something that we thought was cool at the time. I think growing up in number 13 on the street probably had some influence, and my parents were married on Friday the 13th so I never really felt that it was an unlucky number!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I've sort of always been into heavy music since playing the guitar as a teen...It started with bands like ACDC, Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher, etc, and just grew from there!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yeah, we've all played with each other over the years in different projects so it came together fairly naturally!

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Ooooh that's a tough one to answer! We've got such a wide range of influences it's hard to pick one "favourite". I think in terms of how the band sounds as a unit, Alter Bridge and Alice in Chains were big influences.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

To put it succinctly, to make people's lives better. If we can inspire someone to live the life they want to lead, or even just provide 3 minutes of refuge during a tough day I think our job is done as writers.

6. Where was your last gig?

We're planning on touring in 2024 so we'll keep you posted! 7. Where would you like to act? Anywhere and everywhere! In terms of a venue, the Royal Albert Hall in London would be pretty cool. In terms of countries, I think Japan would be amazing, they're huge fans of heavy music and it's such a different culture. 8. Whom would you like to feature with? The bands mentioned above would be amazing! Alter Bridge or Alice in Chains would be awesome....Mammoth WVH would also be an amazing band to gig with, I've seen Wolfgang live and he's an amazing musician and has a fantastic band.

9. Whom not?

Nobody comes to mind!

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Initially, I think everybody in this business suffers from stage fright. We've all been playing for years so it's no longer really fright, but excitement! The only advice I can give is to keep on playing live, the more you do it the easier it becomes. Of course, it goes without saying that it's important to really know your stuff, if you're confident playing it at home you should believe in yourself when you stand on the stage.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The list is very wide and varied, to be honest! Alter Bridge has always been a constant. I love Myles' songwriting and he sings about meaningful topics...It's not obvious in our music but I'm a huge Beatles and George Harrison fan. They're probably my most listened-to band at the moment!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I'll let you know when something weird happens!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are what make this possible for us...We love them! Without people that are willing to support us in our endeavors, we wouldn't be able to do what we love.

14. What do you think of our site?

I think the site looks great! I like the fact that there's a section dedicated to new bands and the countries section is really interesting...It's cool to see how far across the world there are great metal bands.

15. Something to add?

All I can say really is thanks for helping promote metal music!!
