Interviews: THE LUMBERJACK FEEDBACK

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Instrumental Post-Metal band THE LUMBERJACK FEEDBACK from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Our band name is issued from Eric Lorge my English teacher at the university around 2007, i tried to explain what music we played at this time and he answered: so you guys play lumberjack feedback! I was amazed and this became our band name.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We were first into stoner at the very beginning but things became more dark and « metal » very quickly.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I’m (Simon) actually the only former member still in the band.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Simon Guitar: Queens Of The Stone Age / Kiss are my heroes forever!

Virgile Drum: My favorite band will always be Genesis. Prog Rock was the main genre I grew up listening to. Apart from the great compositions et arrangements, Genesis caught me with their drum-leading songs, especially live, and it is certainly the main reason why I started playing drum

Alexis Drum: I think like a lot of kids, we were inspired by Metallica, I'm one of them. I still really like the old stuff!

Geoffrey Guitar: Favorite band: The God Machine Early 90’s American band from San Diego Beautiful mix of heavy guitars, fierce vocals, and haunted lyrics. Two epic records, then the bass player passed away and the band ceased to exist.

Louis Bass: Slayer!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

As we don't have lyrics we don't have a proper story to tell. we mainly write thinking about pictures or feelings.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in Belgium

7. Where would you like to act?

We would like to play in the USA, Joshua tree in the middle of the Mojave Desert would be a perfect location

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Regarding our new record, I guess a brass section and choir live on stage with us.

9. Whom not?

Nobody

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Never suffered from that but I can remember the feelings of pride and embarrassment when you’re glorified on stage but inside of you you’re just a kid playing the stuff you love.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Simon: I’m a huge fan of Queens Of The Stone Age and Kiss but I don't think you can hear that in our music. Bands like Mastodon/Pink Floyd/ Neurosis/The Melvins/Liturgy/Black Sabbath/Slayer are some of our common influences in the band.

Alex drum: Converge, Birds In Row, Kvelertak, The Ghost of a Thousand, Gojira, Young and in the Way, While She Sleeps… I could find dozens more. I listened to a lot of hardcore punk when I was a teenager. Today, I really like listening and finding out what's new, the drummer from Sleep Token has a very particular style for this scene for example. I also try to improve myself by listening to genres I’ll never play.

Virgile: Of course, Genesis is on the shortlist! By the time I started playing drums, I’d also got into heavier bands. And those kind of bands still inspire me today. To name a few: Mastodon, Gojira, Converge…..

Geoffrey: Earth, The God Machine, Alain Johannes (guitar God), Kyuss

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

No answer

13. What do you think of your fans?

We don’t have «fans » just some people who enjoy our music

14. What do you think of our site?

I didn't know before the interview but I really enjoyed the free music section !

15. Something to add?

Can’t wait to release our new record with Argonauta Records!
