Interviews About Albums: Skulldozer - Non Stop Ruthless Crushing (2024)

In this new interview, we sat down with the American Death Metal band Skulldozer to ask questions about his album "Non Stop Ruthless Crushing".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

"Non Stop Ruthless Crushing" is our debut 10-song offering that mixes elements of traditional death metal punch with modern melodic sludge all while grabbing the listener with plenty of undeniable headbanging hooks, thunderous chugs, blasting drums, and aggressive but oddly poetic lyrics. We feel that we have truly captured a unique heaviness that stands out in the current stream of death metal today.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

The title "Non Stop Ruthless Crushing" is our "Oath" to our fans and supporters that we intend to keep making timeless, quality death metal. That has always been the intention of this project. The intent is to be powerful and unwavering and to always trudge forward to your goal.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

At the moment, I am (Jason) the main writer of all of the material and lyrics. With the addition of our Lead Guitarist, Wolf Dobson has now started contributing to future writing.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

That's a tough question because out of the 10 songs on the album, I'm really in love with 8 of them. But I would say that my favorite song on the album is called "Thy Enemies Driven Before Me". The title came from a line of dialogue from Conan the Barbarian movie in 1982. I have always been a fan and influenced by comic books, sci-fi, fantasy, and horror movies. And that's what fuels my imagination when it comes to writing lyrics and building the lore behind the band theme.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

Yes, I would say that there is an overarching message to the album. The message is simply "AWAKEN". A lot of my lyrical content deals with subjects like a tyrannical rule, brainwashing and mind control, mental enslavement, awakening, strength and unity, society collapse, vengeance, and survival. I think that there is a lot to take away from the lyrics but they are presented in a way that the reader can interpret in their own way without pushing any specific religious or political ideology.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

I personally have a deep connection to all of the lyrics but if I had to lead with a lyric that really speaks to the theme of this album it would be from the song "Bastards of Zeus", stating..."Rise! Bastards of Zeus, Just remember your calling, Wake up now to the truth!"

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

It's hard to pinpoint any specific inspiration. I would say that the culmination of these songs comes from a lifetime of inspiration in many different ways. There have definitely been bands, music, experiences, and people who all have inspired me along the way to the final creation of this project.
