Interviews: DECOY

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metallic Hardcore band, DECOY, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band, you plan it or come out just like that?

We wanted something short and sweet. A decoy is an illusion or trap set out for your enemies and we figured that was perfect for the time and period we formed the band.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We listen and play all types of music but we’ve always been metalheads and into hardcore since we were kids. We just love fast, heavy, aggressive shit with groovy parts and maybe a sprinkle of melody.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we knew each other from the local scene out here in Baton Rouge, La. Been knowing each other 10+ years. Took a few bands to get to this one but we settled on this crazy shit.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Jonah: Merauder, E town, crowbar

Bobby: The Devil Wears Prada, chamber

Matt: Advent, Slipknot

Lucien: Crowbar, Vein, Hatebreed

Chris: Cattle Decapitation, Periphery

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We write all our songs together it’s a group effort. Usually starts on the drums, so I kinda come up with a beat that’s in my head and we go from there. The lyrics are where the song really takes its shape and identity. I guess just going through life and getting beat up and getting back up again. Depression, hate, loss, etc.

6. Where was your last gig?

In Baton Rouge, La at Chelsea’s Live.

7. Where would you like to act?

It’d be sick to hit Japan. Asap.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Jorge from Merauder. Webbie, the rapper from Baton Rouge. Human Furnace from Ringworm would be tight too.

9. Whom not?

I don’t really have anyone in mind that I wouldn’t work with. As long as it makes sense you know!

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Not really. Just trying and think of the audience in their underwear, usually helps me.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Slipknot, Vein, hatebreed, converge

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I don’t really see our supporters as fans…but maybe like asking me to touch their butt. I thought that was pretty strange.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our supporters…GO CRAZY. Decoy Army. Decoy dance team. We love them.

14. What do you think of our site?

Very cool.
