Interviews: As Colour Fades

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore/Metalcore band, As Colour Fades, from New Zealand. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

The name is actually taken from a lyric in the song Watch Me Bleed by Scary Kids, Scaring Kids: “My limbs go numb as my colours fade out, you watch me bleed”

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It’s what we’ve always listened to, so it made sense that this is what we’d end up playing/writing.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

So this is effectively As Colour Fades v2. Currently, we’re a two-piece, Conin is the original vocalist and I (Chris) have recently joined as the bassist. The other guys have mostly moved on from music at this point. The band initially formed while the original members were in high school. I’ve known those guys for nearly a decade at this point. I met them initially while networking for a different band that I used to be in. Fun fact: They once picked me up on their way to a gig in a different city and we’ve been friends ever since.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Conin - Misery Signals

Chris - Being As An Ocean

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life in general really. Things we’ve been through, things we’ve seen or heard about others going through.

6. Where was your last gig?

A farewell show here in Auckland back in 2018.

7. Where would you like to act?

Warped tour was always my dream growing up. That Emo’s not dead cruise looks pretty damn cool though!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Oh man, this list could be so long. Mike Shinoda was always a massive hero of mine when I first got into music.

9. Whom not?

Oh this is tough, just seems slanderous.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I think the majority of performers have experienced some kind of stage fright at some point. For me it’s always been a reminder to myself that performing is something I love to do. Additionally you can probably assure yourself that there’s a good chance the crowd, or at least part of the crowd have come to see you.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Being as an ocean, Underoath, The Devil Wears Prada

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I’ve not had anything be asked of me, yet.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Not sure we have that many “fans” just yet but honestly we’re grateful for any and all the support that we get.

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s great! Nice and clean presentation. You guys keep yourself pretty up to date too!

15. Something to add?

If you enjoy the track then please follow along on our socials because there is so much more to come this year.
