Interviews: SUB DESCENDS ALONE

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melancholic Gothic Rock solo project, SUB DESCENDS ALONE. Check out the interview and follow the project on his FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

I wanted a name that somehow highlighted the idea that there's just one member in the band, and I take care of all the instruments and vocals, also I wanted something that sounded poetic. One day I was listening to Roxette, the song was Fading like a flower, and the verse starts saying "In a time when the sun descends alone". So I took it from there.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I spent many years playing melodeath in my previous band, Dawn of Tears, but I've always enjoyed Gothic rock and gothic metal, the style that I play now is something that I always wanted to experiment with, romantic, atmospheric, melancholic...and now was the moment.

3. Your favorite band?

Really difficult question, the band that introduced me to rock was Guns n Roses, so I'm gonna go with them.

4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Love, heartbreaks, feelings of loneliness, mind-struggled thoughts, personal experiences sometimes, and sometimes imaginary stories. In a couple of songs, I speak about topics that make me question the humanity of the human being, for example, wars and their consequences.

5. Where was your last gig?

In fact, as Sun descends alone I haven't played live yet. At some point, I'd like to make a band a take the songs to the stage, but for the moment is just a thought.

6. Where would you like to act?

Everywhere! I enjoy small venues and big festivals, the stage feels like home.

7. Whom would you like to feature with?

I'd say Sentenced, but I guess is a bit too late for that.

8. Whom not?

I've never thought of that, I don't think there's a band I would refuse to play with.

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how. to beat that?

I wouldn't say stage fright, but nerves and thrills always appear right before hitting the stage. If one day it doesn't happen, will be the day to retire haha.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Sentenced, To die for, Lacrimosa, Him, Mandragora scream...

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Once a girl asked me to sign an autograph on her boobs, and another got tattooed the name of my previous band.

12. What do you think of your fans?

I'm still trying to build a fan base, I've released just 3 singles, but little tby little is growing. Sometimes they write me and share my stories on social media, they're very supportive and so far all the comments tend to be very positive.

13. What do you think of our site?

I think is very complete, and I like that you give coverage to underground artists.

14. Something to add?
