Interviews About Albums: Mythologik - Blood In The Sky (2024)

In this new interview, we sat down with the American Melodic Thrash Metal/Thrash Metal band Mythologik to ask questions about their album, "Blood In The Sky".

1. What can you say about this new CD?

Bryan: It's heavy! We poured our souls into it and are very happy with the results. I think this album is much more diverse than the EP we released last year, there are so many different types of songs, but all epic and badass!

2. What is the meaning of the CD name?

Joe: Blood in the Sky refers to the war in Heaven between Lucifer, his legions, and God and his angels. They tear each other apart resulting in, Blood in the Sky.

3. Which one is the composer of the EP?

Joe: Bryan is the brains of the operation! I just scream and yell! Bryan: Haha, Joe is great at screaming and yelling though!!! He wrote all the lyrics and built the concept for the album. I composed all the music and instruments, I usually do that first and send it over to Joe to finalize with lyrics/vocals and then mix and add any last bits that feel needed.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Joe: My favorite is "Fallen Empire". It’s so EPIC! A lot of emotion went into it.

Bryan: They are all pretty great, but if I had to pick just one I think it would be the first single "Scorched Earth". That song just poured out musically and I absolutely love what Joe did to it vocally. Brutal, Catchy, epic, and still short and straight to the point.

5. Is there a special message in this CD? If there is what is it?

Joe: Lucifer was thrown out of the only place he knew and retaliated in anger because of his pain. We all go through pain but there are more constructive ways of dealing with and not hurting anyone else in the process.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Joe: The lyrics for "Fallen Empire" are my favorite. Lucifer goes back and forth from sadness to anger. Bryan: I agree with Joe that the song is just so epic in feel and emotion lyrically and vocally. We also decided to go full out on the CD design this time with a 12-page booklet including all song lyrics. Here are a few short clips from that song, for a taste.

"I long to feel, the warmth of your light
But I can't go home
The only one I've ever known"

"You turned your back on me
When I questioned your true calling
You cast me out for all to see
The endless pain of my falling"

"Heaven shall burn
A promise I made for when I return
Angelic blood will drip from your gates
Triumphant I'll stand and fulfill my fate"

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Joe: Definitely Bryan for giving me the chance to sing on his material! I’ve been a big fan of his for a while and this is a dream for me!

Bryan: Joe definitely lit a fire under me and writing this music has been a breeze. I definitely would thank him for bringing me out of a slump I was in and reigniting the fire, Mythologik has been nothing but fun and excitement writing these songs.

8. Something to add?

Joe: Give the album a listen and let us know what you think!

Bryan: I second that!!! Thanks for taking the time to chat with us about the album, and thanks to anyone willing to give our tunes a listen!
