Behind The Tracks: Trauma Therapy - Fix My Heart (Single) (2024)
Chris: So, the track is based off of experiences with being in therapy. I personally have had a troubled past with partners who wronged me, or cheated on me. I have also had some issues from childhood that unfortunately have triggered me from time to time. All of these experiences together have led me to seek out counseling. I feel like the video really does a good job visualizing some of my everyday struggles with depression, anxiety, medication, and struggling in my relationships, career, and even with my hobbies. I feel like I, among the millions of others in the world who struggle with any aforementioned symptoms or events can relate to Fix My Heart. The main chorus of the song is me begging for answers. Yelling for help. Looking to my therapist to just give me answers as to why I am the way I am.
I never talk lightly or in a joking manner about mental health, but the song came about in the studio when the producers and I were joking around. I don't exactly remember what was said, but I remember responding as I was laughing saying, "Yall need therapy, what's the matter with you?" And the more we started talking about therapy and whatnot, the theme of the song just seemed to click. With myself being the seasoned veteran of counseling already, I had a ton of notes to add as to how we could convey the message. I went to Pangea Creative Group in Concord NC to work with Jordan Mattachione and Sam Ocheltree [of the band Killakoi]. Working with these two is never a dull moment. Sometimes the things we joke about and say in the studio, we treat it like Vegas. What happens there, stays there. But in this case, all joking aside, we were able to take alot of my personal experiences in therapy and literally bring them to life in this track. There are billions of people in the world who struggle with the exact same things as I did/still do every day. My hopes for this track is that if anyone who sees the video, listens to the track, I hope they can see they aren't alone, and that there is someone out here who understands their battles. We [Trauma Therapy] want to make a difference and connect with our fans through our music. It seems there's always a crisis of some kind in the world. And maybe Fix My Heart could help raise some awareness that mental health is a serious thing that we should pay more attention to and be more kind to one another. You truly never know what someone is going through until you step in their shoes.
