Interviews: Braindrag

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal band Braindrag from Spain. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

It wasn't planned but I guess it wouldn't be any other way..."Revengin" means exactly what it means... it is a kind of answer to everyone who thought it was a waste of time and the band would ́t get anywhere.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We never meant to be a "symphonic" metal band. It is something that "happened", I guess. I say that because we never tried to make a song in "symphonic" metal way ... We all in the band bring different influences and personal touch. And I must say that I never thought about us as a symphonic metal band although we have orchestration and some arrangements of the genre. But we also have many extreme elements that don't belong to the "symphonic" style.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I knew Thiago because we already played in a band before. Diego, we met when we were recording “Cymatics”. Themys I met them because he ́s invited me to sing a song for his band at that time. And Nacife came through Themys.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Now You ́re going to understand why we never meant to be a symphonic metal band (hahahah...)

Diego – Iron Maiden and Def Leppard

Themys – Iron Maiden and Anthrax

Bruna – Tristania, rain fell within, and nowadays, Bad Omens

Thiago - Iron Maiden and Judas Priest

Nacife - Kiss

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I usually write the songs and they talk about experiences we had, thoughts, and feelings.

6. Where was your last gig?

It was in Minas Gerais a few months ago.

7. Where would you like to act?

We are already planning our next tour and we would love to act in Italy this time. 8. Whom would you like to feature with? I would love to feature Noah Sebatian from Bad Omens. I guess it would sound interesting.

9. Whom not?

I never thought about that...

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I always get a little nervous before a gig but it is not like “stage fright”. Maybe when we played in Rock In Rio in 2022 was a little bit intense. It was the first time, an underground symphonic metal band had the chance to be on a stage like that and we were the second symphonic metal band in the history of the festival, so it was a huge responsibility. For beginners, I say never give up on your dreams. Along the way, many things will happen... good things and bad things. But be faithful to yourself. The process is the most important part of the journey. Focus on the goal always.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

After Forever, Dimmu Borgir, Rain Fell Within, Tristania...

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

My socks after the concert but I didn't give them... luckily someone called me and I left the place ... hahaha

13. What do you think of your fans?

They ́re just fucking amazing. They are our strength to keep going. Sometimes things get really hard and to know there are people that trust in us and support us is something incredible.

14. What do you think of our site?

It ́s awesome! That is really nice to know about new bands and artists and their work, with interesting questions that make us feel like we have known each other for a long time.

15. Something to add?

First of all, I ́d like to thank you for the opportunity! To our friends thank you very much for all the support we're receiving! Follow the band and stay tuned because “Dark Dogma Embrace” will bring out a new way of listening to symphonic metal.
