Interviews: GREENE
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal/Rock artist GREENE from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the artist on his FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?
Greene is related to my last name and a color that I've had a personal relationship with. Greene was the color of my class Bs while on patrol. Greene was the color of the trees surrounding me on those patrols. Greene is the color of the vehicles I would frequently drive in whilst going to and from Anchorage, Alaska. It's a color that serves as my inspiration for my name and my soul.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Industrial metal & electronic rock are some of my favorite musical genres to listen to. I think that it's always something special when you can expertly combine both electronic synth noises with the hard-hitting sounds of electric guitars and acoustic drum sets. This aspiration combined with my knowledge of synthesizers really makes the sound of Greene itself. For my upcoming album, "Le Creme De Le Meme", there could have been no other way to compose the sound. In a world of digital advancements, we've only exasperated the primal means of our human condition. To translate that in the sense of instruments and sound design-synthesizers to 8-string guitars.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
So, Greene was only composed of 3 people, myself, and I. However, the man who mixed my album may or may not be related to me. Also, some of my internal team members not CC'd in this email have been lifelong acquaintances. I will say that when I perform live, some of the dudes who come on stage with me have been friends with me ever since I was 11 years old.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Well, some of my favorite bands of me, and include Nine Inch Nails, Battle Tapes, Depeche Mode, Florence and The Machine, KMFDM, Agnus Obel, HEALTH, Rammstein, Tame Impala, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizzard, The Who, Rob Zombie, Blue Stahli, Celldweller and Mick Gordon among others.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Mainly my experiences as a person in relation to the world around me. That can be both positive and negative in their respective rights but my music closely aligns there as well. Also, I sometimes think back to what I've done when working with the feds, and in and of itself, I make material. And believe me, there's a lot to choose from.
6. Where was your last gig?
My last gig was actually on a live stream under PainInTheAxe on Twitch. It was a great time.
7. Where would you like to act?
Well, I envision myself performing at Hellfest in Clisson, France. That would be absolutely amazing to do as Hellfest is such a badass festival.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Realistically? Blue Stahli or Battle Tapes or really any industrial/electronic rock band that really is putting down the sick beats and the chunky rhythms of a smooth, 8-string criminal. If I were to say wishingly? Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails.
9. Whom not?
Well, anyone who isn't getting my head to bob or my endorphins rushing through my cerebral complex. I mean, hell man if a reggae act wanted to feature with me, I'd be so down. As the old saying goes; Good times and good weed? What more do ya need?
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
So WAY back in the day, I'd play at a couple of coffee shops and smallish theaters. Then I went into Uncle Sam's club. What I say to anyone when they're scared of a group of people or an individual person is this: I've met people from all walks of life. I've met people who practice their faith in good order and I've met people who've raised entire cities to the ground with the press of a button. I've met people who've helped their community in various ways and others who've killed 20 men with the squeeze of a trigger. I've met owners of hardware shops and men who can dismantle entire governments from the inside. And you want to know how to talk to each of these people? Just remember; they're just people like you and me. And in a live show setting, remember to have fun because at the end of the night, that's what everyone is there for.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Kind of in the vein of question number four: Nine Inch Nails, Battle Tapes, Depeche Mode, Florence and The Machine, KMFDM, Agnus Obel, HEALTH, Rammstein, Tame Impala, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizzard, The Who, Rob Zombie, Blue Stahli, Celldweller and Mick Gordon among others.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Luckily for me, I've never had a fan ask me for anything weird but I've never had a fan come up to me period. Again, in our digital collectiveness, we're farther apart than we have any natural right to be.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Regular people, really. I mean, if I'm getting their head to bob or having them listen to the music, then I've done my job.
14. What do you think of our site?
It has a very solid reputation and I'm flattered you guys are taking the time to interview me.
15. Something to add?
"Le Creme De Le Meme", my upcoming debut album comes out on January 6th, 2025. Listen to it on Spotify, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
