Interviews: Martin Templum Domini

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Instrumental Metal band Martin Templum Domini from Spain. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

The band name was totally planned. With Martin, we wanted to reflect our surnames or initials. Templum Domini refers to the Dome Of Rock, alluding to one of the most emblematic constructions in history, where various beliefs have passed. Besides, the Rock thing was something that had to be there, yes or yes. Anyway, it doesn't matter if you know what the name is about, it sounds cool, hehe.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We love it. We have always had it clear from the beginning, to do something that we liked but that at the same time was different, and that is when the mixture of classical music, the most powerful progressive metal, the idea of the guitar being like a main voice, accompanied with virtuosity but without being tiring and all in a conceptual pack, blew our minds

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we came from different bands, and we knew each other, we lived nearby, and we jammed together before to make the band.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Ufffff, we have a lot of fav bands. Carlos likes a lot Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, and Evergrey. Mario listen to Symphony X, Alter Bridge, and Slipknot. Ivan likes Death, Arch Enemy, or In Flames. But in the end, we listen to a lot of different music, from Rachmaninov to Paco de Lucía to Muse to Gojira, wide open mind.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life itself, and good books or movies. We read a lot, and there are a lot of amazing stories, but in the end, Life is the best story to be influenced by.

6. Where was your last gig?

It was at Sala Padró, in Cornellá, near Barcelona, great stage, great audience, and an exclusive presentation of our new album, and sold out. It was perfect.

7. Where would you like to act?

Festivals are amazing, we played in Can Mercader, one of the most important festivals in Spain, introducing our first album, and to play in front of thousands and thousands of people is awesome. You cannot see where people ends, lol.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Directly with Symphony X, we are really fans of them, I know the guys (I worked for them for 8 years) and they are so cool and great people. But if Metallica wants to play with us, I won't be the one to say no to James, hehe.

9. Whom not?

Taylor Swift???

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Maybe in the first gig, when you are a teenager. It is normal, you want to do It well. It depends on each person. Take your time, acquire experience, learn from your mistakes, record yourself, and take a look at what works on stage and what does not. But don't be afraid, you HAVE to enjoy it, and the crowd will enjoy with you. It is the best thing in this world.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Mainly Metal Prog and neoclassical bands, but, as I said, we listen to a lot of different music, but you must know how to separate what you listen from what you create.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A cover from another band, lol, but nothing really weird, our fans are really cool and respectful, normally they come to sign something like CDs or t-shirts, drumsticks, etc. Ok, there's always the totally drunk one who says "Play me one from Manowar", hehe

13. What do you think of your fans?

Great people and very followers in the sense that they follow you in 4 or 5 gigs continued. We are nothing without them, indeed all bands.

14. What do you think of our site?

Great. The fact that you are supporting a lot of good bands that people do not know helps a lot to the metal community.

15. Something add?

Thanks, Jon for the support, a big shout out to the Breathing The Core community. We hope you guys enjoy our new album! and why not, METAL FUCK YEAH !!! Cheers!
