Track By Tracks: The Blue Marmalades - Inside My Brain (2024)

1. Suzy:

The first track of the EP, "Suzy", is a trip back in time to 69 Woodstock where the main character meets a charming hippie and shares these three days of peace with her, between acids and music. He doesn't want to leave this dream paradise.

2. Changes:

“Changes talks” about environmental issues. It is a contemplative but realistic song about the current situation society is facing. One day you are admiring a beautiful landscape while in the meantime our rainforests are burning, and our glaciers are melting. The chorus of the song chants a wake-up message in the face of climate "inaction".

3. Off Road:

“Off Road” explores mental fragility and the ease of getting lost from one world to another, moving from one psychological state to another in an instant. In a nutshell, this song addresses the topic of old demons from the past that resurfaces and lead to depression.

4. Inside My Brain part 1:

The eponymous song of this EP, composed of two parts, is the main piece of the album. With a total duration of 9 minutes, the song offers two very distinct atmospheres. The first part evokes what seems to be a nightmare, a paranoia linked to the illusions of the human brain. In a dark forest, the character seems confused and panicked by his surroundings, yet a glimmer of hope seems to emerge. Inspired by the progressive rock and metal genre, the song stands out from the rest of the EP with a dark and powerful sound.

5. Inside My Brain 2:

The second part differs drastically from the first. Slower, and more spacey, it shows the beauty of the world and the way in which the human brain can perceive certain moments in life. It is the dream in the face of the nightmare, the relief in the face of a situation that may have escaped us.

6. Blue Masala:

“Blue masala”, the last track of this record, is also the only instrumental piece. Chris came to the studio with only 2 chords which combined sounds and influences rather dark/oriental. The whole band started to jam on it and turned it into a psychedelic dish. The song wasn't originally planned for the EP, but it was so spicy that the musicians decided to include it.
