Behind The Scenes: Echoes Of Hate - Like Moth To Flame (Official Video)

It's never easy to put a song you've written on video. First, you have to think about what the song means to you and what you want it to mean to others. Then you have to sort out the many ideas that come to you during the writing process because sometimes reality doesn't allow you to realize them. In the case of 'Like Moth To Flame', for example, we had to remove all the ideas about the fire from the script. The French countryside was very dry in August when we shot it, and the risk of fire was far too great.

The song is constructed as a kind of general observation of a life full of difficulties and trials. It's as if things are suddenly put into perspective and we realize that in the end, it doesn't really matter. There's also the idea that no matter what we do, we're always going to make the wrong decisions in the end. You might as well get used to it, stop complaining, and get on with it. I know that's a bit pessimistic.

The scenes with the overhead projector are there to illustrate all this. The images shown are passages in the life of the human race. The clip begins with happy, smiling faces in childhood and ends with images of war and violence.

For the rest, we wanted to keep things simple, given the logistical problems associated with the drought I mentioned earlier. We shot at night and on location, a change from the previous two clips. The idea for the string lights was inspired by the video for Limp Bizkit's 'Eat You Alive'. And the idea for the overhead projector came from the video for While She Sleeps 'Nervous'.

We shot the whole thing in one night at the end of August with Mathéo Philbert, who did our 2 previous videos. The track is the latest single from our debut album Negative Thoughts, which is available everywhere.
