Interviews About Albums: TROUBLE COUNTY - Blacken The Sky (2024)

In this new interview, we sat down with the UK Hard Rock band TROUBLE COUNTY to ask questions about their album, "Blacken The Sky".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Our debut album has been a long time in the making. We were preparing to release an album in 2020 but then the pandemic hit and the industry ground to a halt. Signing with Epictronic gave us the chance to re-record, add some new tracks and to produce the album ourselves making it sound exactly as we wanted. We are totally stoked with the result and having poured our heart and soul into these songs and can’t wait for everyone to hear them!

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

Blacken the Sky is the title track of the album and was inspired by mankind bleeding the earth dry of its natural resources whilst millions of people die in the name of religion, ending in religious plagues. It’s one of the album's darker songs and made the perfect album title as well as providing a great theme for the artwork.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

Trouble County has always approached songwriting collaboratively. One person might have a riff, another a lyric or drum pattern, and we all bring something to the table. The other way songs come about is jamming “messing around” in our rehearsal space and something just pops out and grabs us. Having played together for many years now we have an intrinsic musical connection and find it easy to just know what works for each of us when writing. Every song on this album has something from each of us, it’s a great feeling!

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

That depends, for playing live it would probably be 12 gauge as it’s so much fun to play with its twists and turns, plus it always goes down a storm with the audience. For a song to listen to it would probably be Rapturous me, it has a bit of everything!

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

We leave that up to the listener to take what they want from the songs. There is no single theme or message to the album and different songs come from a different place or experience and have their own identity. Songs and lyrics are a personal thing and everyone finds certain tracks that we connect with because the lyrics have a sentiment you share or an emotion or experience you can relate to. We hope that the people out there listening to our album will find tracks they connect with beyond just enjoying the music.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

“Bring the Locust, Blacken The Sky, Point the Sceptre, Hail and Fire” From the title track of the album ‘Blacken the Sky’ which deals with man’s self-destruction

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Musically there are many influences for us as a band with the three of us having an eclectic range of musical tastes and having previously been in very different bands. What we have in common is the desire for a natural vintage sound in our music giving a classic rock vibe to underpin a more modern sound to our music.
The support of our friends, our families and our loyal fans always keeps us motivated to carry on doing what we do and to continue pushing forward as a band.

A special thanks has to go to Carlo Belloti for his constant support, advice and belief in our music helping us to create the best possible result with our debut album. We are eternally grateful for everything he and the team at Epictronic have done for us.

8. Something to add?

We are super proud of this Album and how it sounds and hope that anyone who comes across it will give a listen, no 2 tracks sound the same so there is something in there for everyone.

If you like what your hearing we’d love to hear from you so please look us up on social media, drop us a like or comment, add us to your playlist or join the Trouble County Collective to keep up to date with what’s going on in our world.
