Interviews: SHRKS

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Metal band SHRKS from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

The name SHRKS came to us pretty naturally. We wanted something straightforward that captures the raw energy and intensity of our sound, like sharks on the hunt. It represents our vibe well : sonic predators, ready to bite into the stage.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Metal lets us express ourselves with no limits, channeling intensity and emotions in a powerful way. The genre has a cathartic effect, and we love the idea of turning our rage, passions, and life experiences into music.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We actually met through online forums. I was looking for musicians to join my project, and that’s how I found Romain, Kilian, Vincent, and Ben. The chemistry clicked right away, and SHRKS was born from that connection.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

We all have some shared influences as well as unique ones. To name a few, we’re into bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Bad Omens, I Prevail, Enter Shikari, Gojira, Parkway Drive, and Wage War. These bands each bring something different that inspires us in our own music.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our personal experiences, life’s challenges, society, and the brutality of the modern world. We also draw inspiration from visual arts, movies, and darker elements of contemporary culture.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was in Portugalete, near Bilbao, alongside The Fall of Atlantis, who we’re hitting the road with us on tour. It was our first time playing in Spain, and it was an incredible experience. We’re excited to keep that energy going as we travel together!

7. Where would you like to act?

International and french festivals would be amazing. We’d love to play at venues like Le Ferrailleur in Nantes, La Boule Noire in Paris, or Rocksound in Barcelona. Small, intimate venues have such amazing energy, and playing iconic spots like these would be a great next step for us.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We’d love to do a feature with our friends from Fallen at Dawn, who we shared a stage with a few months ago. The French band Landmvrks would also be an incredible collaboration. Both have such a strong sound, and working together would be amazing.

9. Whom not?

We appreciate anyone who’s passionate and authentic, but we avoid soulless collaborations or ones that don’t align with our artistic vision.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, some of us felt anxious at first. Our advice: channel that nervousness into positive energy. Picture the audience as friends who are there to support you, not judge you.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Our biggest role model is Bring Me The Horizon. They’re extremely innovative and aren’t afraid to try new things, always bringing something fresh to the scene. Their level of visual, sound, and stage production is just insane, and we really admire how they constantly push boundaries.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We once got invited as a band to a housewarming party, and we were introduced as SHRKS, like we were big rockstars. The funny part was that absolutely no one knew who we were, which made the moment both awkward and hilarious!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans started out as friends from our hometown, but they’ve become quite eclectic, coming from all over France and Spain. This growing support has led us to our first concert in Spain and an upcoming show on November 23rd in Girona. We’re so grateful for their energy and enthusiasm!

14. What do you think of our site?

Your site is a great platform for discovering artists and following music news. Thanks for giving us a voice!

15. Something to add?

Thanks for the interview! We can’t wait to see you all at our upcoming shows and share our music with you.
