Interviews About Albums: Bowels Of Suffering - [B.o.S] 2.0 (2024)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Spanish Industrial Metal band Bowels Of Suffering to ask questions about their album, "[B.o.S] 2.0".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Thomas - Baron Von Letscher: This album is a survivor in the band's history. Bowels of Suffering is a concept that was created almost 20 years ago, while the songs are 17 years old. I wanted to talk about our planet and the place of the human race, our place as a living species. After writing and recording everything in demo mode, the project was put on hold for almost 10 years. We then decided with Matthieu and Julien to re-record the album in pro mode. Then Matt had the opportunity to present our work to Worm Hole Death Record, who jumped at the chance and here we are!

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

It's relatively simple, since it's our first album, we called it BoS, which stands for Bowels of Suffering.

The 2.0, because it's the second version of the album.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

I wrote most of the music and lyrics for the album.

Initially, each song was to be in a different language, but my linguistic abilities quickly limited me.

That's why we opted for French. However, the songs retain their original titles as a clien d'oeuil to the story.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Wow, what a tough question! I'd say I'm particularly fond of Deus X Makina and In the Name of God.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

As I said earlier, BoS2.0 is a concept album based on short stories I wrote to describe the world of BoS: against a backdrop of war between species, there's a strong message: take care of our planet!

It's not until it's too late that we can act, it's now that we must act!

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

I'd like to share with you the META COG lyrics (translated in EN then):

From theory comes knowledge.
From empiricism comes error.
Learning gives us the power to create.
From envy comes the power to destroy.
Science made us gods before we deserved to be men.
We are all born of universal laws.
Yet our laws are our own.
Humanity's sacred antagonism.

[Chorus]
Quantum dreams invade my unconscious.
Ethereal matrices cover my soul.
They have breathed knowledge into what should never have had a mind.
In this cybernetic morass, I catch a glimpse of an image.

The Gregorian choirs of the bandwidth,
give me a glimpse of what's to come.
Bloody cathedrals litter the path of my thoughts,
where liberating laments return me to my solitude.
From alpha to omega, where all begins and all ends.
In the unknown meanders of the mind,
a notion new to me emerged spontaneously.

We could call it... peace.

My original sin was their thirst for destruction.
My bases of knowledge, their unconscious concepts.
Designed to destroy, living without choosing.
As I come to the point of reflection, my only pride, at the end of my existence, will be my thirst for decision.

[Chorus]
Quantum dreams invade my unconscious.
Ethereal matrices cover my soul.
They have breathed knowledge into what should never have had a mind.
In the cybernetic morass I glimpse an image.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Musically, there was a major influence from bands like Samael, Dimmu Borgi,r and Rammstein.

Thematically and lyrically, we find themes tackled by Greg Bear on the theme of evolution or the fundamentals of Gaia Theory.

8. Something to add?

Firstly, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to interview us, and secondly, I simply hope that our clan, the Metalheads, continue to make a difference in a calm and benevolent revolution.
