Interviews About Albums: DKANDLE - Under The Effect (2025)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Italian Shoegaze/Grunge/Post-Punk band DKANDLE to ask questions about their album, "Under The Effect".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
I think the songs on this EP have a darker tone. ‘The Heart Knows’ sounds pretty Blackgaze to me.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
‘Under The Effect’ represents the essence of the band, which is to experiment with a variety of sound effects.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
DKANDLE started as a solo project, so I, Denis Kandle, have written all the songs so far, however, now that we are a trio, future songs might be written collaboratively by the entire band.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
‘Kinda Hard to Find’ is the lead single of the EP, and I think it best encapsulates the vibe of the whole project.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what is it?
The real message is that the revolution is in the pedalboard!
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
The lyrics of ‘Dissociation’ deliver the message:
“In the summer camp
For the troubled youth
Just because we wanted to know
If God is a girl
Where there is faith
May we bring doubt
In the yeses and nos of life
Resist anything but temptations
The only real agenda
Is power and worship
We're the ones we've been waiting for
You're commanded when you don't obey yourself”
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
I draw inspiration from my connection with Gaia, and music is the creation born of that encounter.
8. Something to add?
Die young as late as possible.
