Interviews About Albums: Hell Comes Home - Dying Breed (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the American Metalcore band Hell Comes Home to ask questions about their album, "Dying Breed".

1. What can you say about your new EP "Dying Breed"?

“Dying Breed, the debut EP from Hell Comes Home; is a breakout project in the company of a few others. The massive riffs and brutal vocals delivered from the bowels of hell itself, provide a broad musical interpretation of concepts such as tyranny, honor, life and death, inner torment, space and time and so much more. Vocalist Sam Simmons and guitarist Nick Stambuck both come from a lifelong background in music and a love for metal. Forging the breeding ground for hard-hitting lifelong bangers. Meeting for the first time as though fated by the stars, Dying Breed is only the beginning of something much bigger.”

2. What is the meaning of the EP name?

“Dying Breed” encapsulates a rebellious, rockstar mentality that defies societal norms through rock and roll and takes pride in originality and expressing individuality. The dying breed name symbolizes this idea being lost as time goes on.

3. Which one is the composer of the EP?

Nick writes a majority of the guitar and Sam writes most of the lyrics however through dynamic collaboration Nick contributes lyrics for example in “Honor Is Everything” and Sam has contributed guitar melodies/riffs for example “Demons” and “Sic Semper Tyrannis” have his touch. Sam and Nick have both contributed to drum sections in every song.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

This question is hard to answer. Every song is unique, in its own way and expresses meaningful, passionate subjects. We both do not settle when we compose and only release music when we know it is worth the listen. “Dying Breed” and “Sic Semper Tyrannis” both particularly capture the message of the EP title by speaking of defiance to tyranny, but not one single song can be mentioned above any of the others as far as meaning and power/importance to us.

5. Is there a special message in this EP? If there is what is it?

The message of this EP is somewhat broad, but the main point is that every person can achieve much more than they think possible through hard work. All of these songs are written from real, raw experiences and emotions. Demons for example is from the point of view of absolute rock bottom and hopelessness, The Other Side is about the stricken pain of losing a loved one. We want anyone who has felt these things before to hear our record and know that they are not alone.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

“Fuck Society I despise the culture, infested with roaches and hungry vultures, what happened to rebels and the rockstars? Cut my throat I’ll die a martyr”

“This battle worn armor stands the test of time, I’ve been forged in fire, I lost my mind”

“Laws are arbitrary dictates to fuel your power and greed, for all the oppressed souls, it will bring me joy to make you bleed”

7. Which inspirations have been important for this new work? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

We have tons of musical inspiration, ranging from Old School Iron Maiden to the most brutal deathcore you can imagine such as Chelsea Grin, and All Shall Perish, we love melody and breakdowns, beautiful heavy shit. More importantly, however, the inspiration for our music comes from the experience of real life. When Nick failed trucking school and felt like an all-time loser. When Sam lost his military career due to debilitating injuries and lost multiple friends to various deaths, he dealt with substance abuse, legal trouble, and severe mental health issues. These things are what create the spark of passion for our music.

8. Something to add?

“Nick speaking here, I just have to say I couldn’t be more proud of this EP. This is the first time in my life that I really tried to compose pure metalcore and Deathcore. The finished result is a wonderful mix of Metalcore, Deathcore, and sprinkles of old-school classic and thrash metal. This EP pushed the limits of my physical guitar playing and pushed me mentally for what I was capable of. It couldn’t have turned out better as far as I am concerned, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it and to see what is next in store for us.”

“Sam speaking here, I am stoked for y’all to be able to hear our debut EP. I hope you can feel the energy, passion, and raw emotion in our music and you can relate to one or more of the messages portrayed in this record. We are just getting started and hungry for more. I will not settle, I want it all. Stay metal.”
