Tour Interviews: Devitalized's First-Ever "New Year, New Violence" Tour
Embarking on their first-ever tour, Devitalized is hitting the road with Voluntary Victim for the "New Year, New Violence" tour. Fueled by years of anticipation, the band is ready to bring their electrifying energy to fans across the country. In this exclusive interview, we delve into the emotions leading up to the tour, the challenges faced during its organization, and what fans can expect from their explosive live performances. From tour collaborations to post-tour plans, Devitalized is here to share all the thrilling details about their journey and what’s next for 2025.
1. How does it feel to finally be heading out on your first-ever tour? What emotions are running
high as the kickoff date approaches?
Feelings it’s insane, this is truly something we’ve been dreaming of doing for years.
Emotions and nerves were shot for the first two days because once we finally stepped foot in
the van and it all settled in we were like “Oh shit this is like, FOR REAL!” Haha but definitely
anxiety, excitement, sadness, it all kinda came together
2. What were some of the biggest challenges you faced in organizing the New Year, New
Violence tour?
Booking for sure, Chance from Voluntary Victim and I (JP Devitalized) have been booking this
tour since the early summer of 2024 and some of the dates got locked in instantly and some
didn’t officially get confirmed until a month or so out. So I would say the biggest challenge was
really just trying to organize it professionally and execute it perfectly, it did work out in the end
though!
3. How did you select the cities and venues for this tour? Was there a specific strategy or
fanbase focus?
Actually yeah, so one thing we do is check our statistics on Spotify and Apple to see where
most of our listeners are from and what areas are best to reach them as well, that way there we
didn’t get hit with the common “come to my state” line or “that city is really far” haha, every show
was absolutely a blast as well and seeing those who support us come out was just such a
beautiful thing.
4. Can you tell us more about your relationship with Voluntary Victim and why you chose them
to join you on this tour?
Voluntary Victim are our BROTHERS!! We played a show with their drummer’s other band over
the summer and that’s how the connection was made, I (JP) had always seen them playing
locally and loved the sound and they had actually started their band around the same time as
us. I hit up Chance personally and was like would you be down to do a tour even no matter the
circumstances and within about an hour of that DM he was like hell yeah!
From that moment forward we got to booking, long conversations, planning, merch, etc. We
came together as a team and really created that bond with them and even on the tour I mean
these guys are just hilarious to be around and really helped brighten everyone’s mood.
5. What can fans expect from the synergy between Devitalized and Voluntary Victim during this
tour? Are there any collaborative surprises in store?
Anger, absolute chaos! We’ve been sorta working on a dual collab with them JP on their song, and Chance on ours (for the next project) the one thing that really brings us together is how we’re
both Deathcore mixed with Hardcore but the way we execute our music is very distinguishable
and unique but with some similarities. So, there are definitely lots of surprises on the way!
6. With the release of State of Aggression, how will you balance new tracks with fan favorites in
your setlist?
So the tour is actually a late album release tour, this was originally supposed to happen in June
but due to some things out of everyone’s control, it had been canceled. However, that was the
point of this tour, to make up for that and get our asses on the road haha, everyone was asking
so we thought “Hey, let’s try! What’s the worst that could happen”
7. Are there any specific tracks from State of Aggression that you are particularly excited to
perform live? Why?
Welcome Back, Flesh Pit, and Dancing on The Dead. Fast songs, unique songs, different songs
from each other but all keep that brutal vibe, from the opening to the end those tracks just
absolutely slap and are some of our most popular songs around. We love playing them and we
think people have extra fun with them!
8. What kind of stage production or special elements have you planned to enhance the live
experience?
Not super much, we try to keep everything as raw as possible, however yes we use some more
technical gear our goal is to have as much fun as we can and let the music speak for itself. At
some point, we’d love to have strobes and stuff haha but for right now we go with the flow.
9. What are you most looking forward to in terms of audience interaction on this tour?
The PIT!! Hah, our goal is to make the pit so crazy that it feels like we’re right back at home in
MA, if the people aren’t moving we feel we’re doing something wrong. Another thing is to really
bring people together, that’s always been our goal. We’re all family out here whether we like it or
not this music is what keeps the community alive, so we should be afraid to dance together, hit each other, or sing with each other!
10. Do you have any plans to engage with fans off-stage, such as meet-and-greets or exclusive
tour merchandise?
We love to hang out with everyone, whether it’s the merch booth or by the food truck. We’re all
D1 yappers and can simply shoot the shit for hours, it’s our favorite passing time. We don’t love
the idea of Meet-n-Greets we lowkey think it’s corny, at the end of the day the same people who
are coming to see us are the reason why we are able to tour and travel in the first place, we
don’t think charging and arm and a leg to say hi is really worth it or fair to those who helped us
rise up, we’d rather you cop a hoodie and snap a photo with us before or after our set.
11. Looking back, how do you feel the band's journey has prepared you for this moment?
It was a year or so in the making, from recording an album to trying to play as much as we could
to finally booking a tour I mean, we realized that this was something we really needed to do as a band.
There are so many people waiting for us, it’s only fair we take our asses and get to them and
show them how awesome we are live haha. No, but for real just lots of internal band love and
more is what really got us here.
12. What are your goals for this tour, both personally and as a band?
Our goal is to reach wider audiences, spread the love, and keep doing THIS. Touring, making
cool ass merch, more videos, whatever we can do to not only push ourselves out of our shells
but to also show thanks and love to those who have shown us all sorts of love and care. We’re
personally excited for the next chapter of the band and the crazy shit that comes after.
13. Post-tour, what can fans expect next from Devitalized in 2025?
We’re hitting the studio and recording a ton of new music for everyone to hear. If you think we’re
stopping YOU’RE NUTS haha. We got so so so much more in store throughout 2025 and
beyond and we cannot wait to share. We’re also booking a Part 2 of the tour to hit some of the
states we couldn’t on this run, so keep ya eyes peeled. The DV party will be going your way
sometime soon.
