Behind The Scenes: Sarcofagus - Live For The Last Time At Dante's 2010 (Video)
Sarcofagus 2010 live comeback was nothing short of legendary, but the
road to Dante's stage was filled with both excitement and challenges. It
all started at the Metal Warning Festival at the iconic Gloria Club,
where Sarcofagus was the main headliner. The festival was an incredible
opportunity to reconnect with old friends, meet other bands, and share
the stage with some great talent. What made it even more special was
seeing fans from the USA and Europe who had traveled just to witness our
performances a humbling and thrilling experience.
One of the standout moments of the show preparation was the decision to
use the flamethrower guitar. Safety concerns initially created some
restrictions, but in true Sarcofagus fashion, we decided to go ahead
without the proper permissions. It added that iconic and rebellious
touch, staying true to the spirit of our live performances.
What made the entire comeback even more impressive was that we had just
one full rehearsal before the shows. Despite that, everything came
together so smoothly that it felt almost magical. To capture the moment,
we decided to record the entire set live in the studio in just one day,
staying true to our raw, unpolished approach.
After the shows, I initially planned a longer tour and contacted major
venues across Finland. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with
many excited about hosting Sarcofagus. However, after careful
consideration, I realized that with band members based in different
countries, it would be too expensive and logistically challenging. Given
Sarcofagus reputation for elaborate stage shows, I didn't want to risk
delivering a watered-down experience. Instead, I decided to let these
few comeback gigs be our final, pure live moments.
A memorable highlight from the show was keyboardist Esa Kotilainen's
Hammond B3 organ and Leslie speakers. As much as we appreciated the
incredible sound, moving that heavy equipment around was a workout
nobody missed! It was one of those reminders of the realities of
gigging, mixed with nostalgia and humor.
The 2010 shows weren't just concerts they were a celebration of
Sarcofagus history and a perfect way to bring our live performances to a
close. The release of the "Live for the Last Time at Dante's 2010"
video now gives fans the chance to relive those unforgettable moments
and the spirit of the band one last time.
