Interviews: Marina V

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the singer Marina V. Check out the interview and follow the singer on her FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

I go by Marina V because my last name - Verenikina - was way too long for most people, so when I came to the US from Russia at 15 as an exchange student, my high school history teacher started writing "Marina V" on my papers... So it stuck 🙂

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I didn't choose it - it kind of chose me. As a singer/songwriter who plays piano, I ended up gravitating towards that genre naturally. On my latest song "Symphony & Metal" I have hard rock/metal legends (Bruce Kulick from KISS and David Ellefson from MEGADETH) playing guitar and bass, so this is a bit of a different sound for me. And I LOVE it!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

My co-writer Nick & I have been married for 2 decades now, and have toured together for years. I have known David Ellefson, Bruce Kulick, and Steve Horner for 23, 20, and 10 years, respectively.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

I am a Beatles girl all the way. Nick is a huge KISS fan.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I started writing songs as a child, and writing songs has been my therapy all my life, so I guess all of the emotions I feel inspire me. Writing songs has been essential for my mental health and has saved me from addiction.

6. Where was your last gig?

A few days ago, on www.Twitch.tv/MarinaVmusic, I livestreamed once a week.

7. Where would you like to act?

Maybe do a musical! I have performed onstage a lot - as myself - a singer/songwriter - but never in a musical

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Hmmm. Anyone who's really good at their craft

9. Whom not?

People with big egos or attitude

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Definitely get anxious before going onstage.. Sometimes dry mouth, and hard to breathe... My advice is to try to close your eyes, take deep breaths, and imagine something calm. It really helps me. Never use any substances to calm the nerves.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The Beatles. Such great songwriting, and such versatile arrangements - their recordings span many genres!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To do a threesome

13. What do you think of your fans?

I am so grateful to my fans for caring and for listening to my music.

14. What do you think of our site?

You guys are awesome!

15. Something you'd like to add?

Thanks for listening to my music - make sure to find Symphony & Metal on your favorite platform! Www.MarinaV.com/symphony ❤️
