Interviews: Phase

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Post-Punk band Phase from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

The name 'Phase' came about quite naturally. We wanted something that represented both movement and transformation, something fluid and dynamic, much like our sound. It encapsulates the idea of evolution—both musically and personally—so it felt right from the very beginning.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It wasn’t so much a conscious choice as it was an organic evolution, despite initially discussing the sonic framework we would adopt. We’re drawn to music that carries depth and atmosphere, something that resonates emotionally. Our sound blends alternative, rock, electronic, and progressive elements because that’s what feels natural to us—it’s the music that speaks to us the most.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Some of us did, others came into the fold as the band progressed. It’s been a journey of finding the right chemistry and musical connection. When that happens, you just know.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

That’s a tough one, as it's also difficult to itemize everyone's tastes! We all have quite eclectic tastes, but some names that come up often include The Doors, Depeche Mode, A Perfect Circle, and Nine Inch Nails. We draw inspiration from a broad spectrum of artists.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Inspiration can come from anywhere—life experiences, philosophy, literature, films, or even just a mood. We like to create something deep and immersive, something that transports the listener into another space.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in Thessaloniki, Greece, and it was an unforgettable night. The energy from the crowd, the atmosphere—it all came together perfectly.

7. Where would you like to act?

We’d love to play at venues with deep history and energy, places like the Royal Albert Hall, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, or ancient theatres that carry an aura of the past blending with the present.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

There are so many artists we’d love to collaborate with. A dream collaboration would perhaps have been with David Bowie, but I guess this ship has sailed. Or even something unexpected like a crossover with an electronic artist such as Massive Attack.

9. Whom not?

We’re open-minded when it comes to music, but we wouldn’t align with anything that lacks authenticity or passion. If it feels forced, it’s not for us.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Of course! It’s natural to feel nervous before stepping onto a stage. The key is to channel that energy into your performance. Breathing exercises help, as does remembering why you’re there—to share your art. Once you start playing, you forget everything else and become immersed in the music.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

A mix of the greats—Led Zeppelin, and all the rest of it, and even classical composers like Vangelis. We take elements from many sources and shape them into something uniquely ours.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We’ve had some interesting requests over the years, from signing body parts to someone asking us what tattoos they should get! It’s all part of the journey.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are the reason we do what we do. Their passion and dedication fuel us. It’s always humbling to see how deeply some people connect with our music, and we’re grateful for every single one of them.

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s great! It’s always a pleasure to see platforms that support artists and help bring music to a wider audience. Keep doing what you’re doing!

15. Something to add?

Thank you for the interview! To those reading, keep exploring music, keep supporting artists, and never stop seeking the sounds that move you. We hope to see you on the road!
