Interviews: Skye
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock/Metal band Skye from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE!
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?
Skye started out as a solo project by Marcus. The name came from his favorite album Crack the Skye by Mastodon.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
This is the music we like, we didn't decide to play in any genre we just make songs we like.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes and No, Ben, Marcus, and Ant have been in bands together for years, Marcus invited Lee into the ban,d and our most recent addition Matt, was a friend of Lees.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Marcus - Bad Omens
Lee - Sleep Token
Matt - The Pale White
Ant - Breaking Benjamin
Ben - Slipknot.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Inspiration can come from anything. A guitar practice, a particular chorus mold,y or even a lyric. Experimenting with different plugins etc, it really can come from anywhere.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our 2nd home, is Sanctuary Rock Bar, Burnley.
7. Where would you like to act?
I think playing download would feel like a massive moment for the band, we've all been punters, and it would be special to be on stage there.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Any one of my favorite bands for sure, there are so many bands that we collectively listen to that we would love to play with.
9. Whom not?
Beyonce
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Not really, we all love it. Our first show was in our hometown and Marcus was our full-time singer at that point, he was nervous before that one but otherwise it's not an issue, we love it.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
The band has evolved since Marcus started so naturally so have the influences. We think if you like bands like, Sleep Token, Bad Omens, Linkin Park, or Altar Bridge there is a fair chance you will like Skye.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Unfortunately, we haven't really had any strange requests. We did a show with a band that used a lot of blackouts and one of our fans asked for a big black hand of Saruman sort of thing on her face.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We love them, could we say anything else? They've been super loyal traveling to shows us, and helping promote new tracks, we love them.
14. What do you think of our site?
'Breathing the Core is a one-person operation and it's done as a passion project' and it shows, you've put together a considerable catalog of awesome bands and we're happy to be part of it.
