Track By Tracks: Deus Sabaoth - Cycle Of Death (2025)
1. The Priest delves into the perils of unquestioning loyalty and the distortion of spiritual
purpose. By urging blind obedience and sacrifice from followers, one pushes them
toward self-destructive devotion, for true peace is found only in surrendering to his
oppressive force.
2. Mercenary Seer portrays a charismatic leader, much like those often found in religious
movements, who skillfully manipulates his followers for his own gain, using their faith for
personal benefit.
3. Cycle Of Death is written from the perspective of a person who comes to realize the
futility of all aspirations and achievements. They refuse to conform to social expectations
and find freedom in accepting death and consciously choosing to face it alone, so as not
to carry the burden of losing loved ones throughout their life.
4. Executioner takes the listener on a journey through the psychopathic mind of a
medieval executioner, carrying out the will of the Catholic Church and enforcing its brutal
sentences.
5. The Blind’s character is an indigent older man who lives in complete misery sometime
in the early Middle Ages. Lacking any opportunities in this life, he’s open to religious
propaganda as long as he’s promised a better afterlife and justice as he imagines it.
6. Faceless Warrior, in some sense, draws a parallel between a rebel sentenced to death
by religious authorities and a martyr who fanatically gives his life to win another fight for
church domination. The song has been partially inspired by true historical figures, like
Saint Ignatius of Antioch, who obsessively persuaded and finally reached a violent death
through being torn apart by wild animals in the arena, to acquire eternal glory as a
disciple of Christ.
7. Beginning Of New War, as the final track, concludes the themes of death in the
reflections of a person nearing the end of their life and their final reconsideration of life’s
values and all the meaning behind them.
Despite the specific meanings we've put into each track, we encourage our listeners to connect
with the songs and their characters on an emotional level, gain their own insights, and reach
their own understanding. After all, music is all about personal experience.
