Behind The Tracks: Emerald Sunday - Losing Ground (Single) (2025)

Losing Ground was written around the time I wrote ‘Sitting in the Stars’ so it's of the same mould in terms of its very poignant. It was a tough time and these 2 tracks reflect that period. They go side by side actually.

 

The track from a writing point of view was done quickly, I would say it was written and demo'd in a few hours. Often the big ones are, I didn't re-write the rule book, it's actually a very simple song. What happens after that is I bring it to the rehearsal room, I play it and if we feel it and it hits a nerve then it's in!

It was recorded in one day at Open Eyes Studio, Dundee, Scotland and the unique thing about these new recordings is they are tracked in reverse. It's something I couldn't get my head around at first, but our producer Mark Tindal does it his way and he is a bit of a magician, I must be honest. The drums go down last, but the end product blew our minds a little. It's so powerful, and we hope it connects with people as we think it can.
