Interviews About Albums: ANTI - Second Death Vol. I (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Argentinian Metal artist ANTI to ask questions about her album, "Second Death Vol.I".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Second Death has a much deeper, introspective and emotional insight. On its lyrics, on its sound, on its breakdown, all the raw emotions and vulnerability are there. In my voice, in the breakdowns, in the riffs, in every sound, you can hear and feel the way I was feeling when I was writing those lyrics.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

Second Death means rebirth: you died twice but you get to live again too. Embrace it. Embrace the fact that you lived, you tried, you fought and died, and you came back. Be aware of the strength within you. You died twice. You lived twice. You fought twice. And there are many more to come. And you will do it all over again. And you will overcome everything all over again. No matter how painful it feels, how hard it may seem, how out of breath you may be. You will do it. Because you already did it. Rewarded with vulnerability, which is what makes us humans. Second death is a new beginning. It's finding sensitivity in discomfort. It's the creativity within the darkness and letting yourself be inspired by it.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

I am the lyricist (ANTI), and my producer Augusto Flores is the one who comes up with the sick riffs and heavy breakdowns, and everything! We always discuss about a specific sound for a lyric, or the tone of the song, but we mostly work like this: he does the sound, I write the lyric, or vice versa: if I come up with a lyric first, sometimes I already have a melody in mind, but he adds the magic behind it and perfect it.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

From "Second Death", I'd definitely pick "You Will Not Remember Me", which is the track that ends the album. It's all my feelings, thoughts, and emotions, put in one song, one lyric, different sounds and different vocals, which give the track a special aura around it. I filmed a video for it that will be as special and unique as the song. I can't wait for you to watch it!

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

The overall message throughout the lyrics and the album itself, is resilience. Is being hurt, but not defeated, not hopeless. That`s what "Second Death" is. That's how I commute through my feelings and experiences between the year and a half I spent writing this album.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

All the lyrics are available on Spotify and Bandcamp. I personally think they are more poetic-written than the ones on the last EP "Brutal". So, I would recommend you to dig into the lyrics and see for yourself how I write my poems, because most of the lyrics in this new album (if not all) started as a poem, then turned into a metal banger lol.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank specially?

All of the inspirations for this album in particular, are personal experiences. Every word I wrote, was a feeling I was living in that moment. As I said, most of the songs started as poems, and that's where the raw emotions come from... Something I think is missing on my other EP, where impulsiveness and anger were the main starting points.

8. Something to add?

I would like to thank you first, for all the support throughout the years, it really means a lot and I truly appreciate it. I am an independent artist from Argentina. I play metal as a hobby, and I love it! I became ANTI when the pandemic hit, so it's been almost 5 years now since I started this journey on my own (as I was in a hardcore band until 2017). So I get to experience this facet of me, having fun, doing what I love, with lots of amazing friends, artists, writers, producers, sound engineers, and fans along the way, and I hope I am able to keep doing it while it still amuses me! I hope you enjoy my songs and videos as much as I enjoyed making them! I want people to feel supported and challenged, and not alone when hearing me scream about what I went through and how I overcame it. Thanks!
