Interviews: ARC

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band ARC from the USA. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or came out just like that?

The name ARC was chosen deliberately because it is molecularly bonded to the band's theme and storyline. We established our own definition of ARC: the act of connecting two points or beings through a powerful force and continuous extraordinary energy. The concept behind ARC is that it exists as an entity—a transmission of energy, power, light, and sound beaming from “somewhere” to Earth, linking two points just like an ARC.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I wanted to create something unique to the best of my ability. Originally, the band was a two-guitar heavy metal group; however, I always envisioned having a synth player to add an electronic sound and influence to our music. I made the decision to switch from playing lead guitar for over 20 years to focusing on synthesizers and keyboards. I taught myself how to program synth sounds, play keyboard solos, and become an integral part of our sound. Now, we are a one-guitar, synth-led band that we like to call “synth metal.” We are continually evolving our sound to make the music less of a “question” and more of a statement, meaning we aim to communicate more effectively.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Only the synth player (me) and the guitarist knew each other and decided to form a new band. We originally started our first band together back in 2002-2007. The name of that band was “Breakage Rising,” and the lineup has changed as we find the perfect members.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Me (Sonny) synths - Rammstein

James (guitars) - Dark Tranquility

Chad (vocals) - Whitechapel

Alex (bass) - Rush

Will (Drums) - Dragonforce

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It can be another song; it might simply be a chorus melody I create while shopping. Sometimes, I'll play around on the guitar or synth, and something will come out. I strive to make everything I write extravagant. What inspires me is pushing my abilities to their limits and trying to surpass my creative styles. I aim to write for the masses, not just for myself.

6. Where was your last gig?

We were tour support for Visions of Atlantis (Austria) two shows, first on Wednesday 4/2 at Lovedrafts in Mechanicsburg PA, and the next on Saturday 4-5 at The Meadows in Brooklyn NY

7. Where would you like to act? And whom would you like to feature with?

I believe that we should simply be ourselves and cultivate our sound without any influence from outside groups.

8. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I have only experienced stage fright once in my life. It was during my very first show, and with each subsequent performance, I felt increasingly at ease. What really helps me is wearing something that boosts my confidence, like a stylish shirt or something similar. I always wear sunglasses or create my own headpieces—something extraordinary or extravagant to express myself or showcase something I’ve made.

9. What bands have inspired you the most?

Of course, my answer is going to be Rammstein. I have been following them since 1995. They blew my mind when I first heard them. When I saw them, I knew right away this was what I was supposed to see and do. I was super impressed by how they continuously reinvent themselves.

10. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A dude wanted me to sign his back. With a pen, I obliged.

11. What do you think of your fans?

They are the reason we gain inspiration: a very diverse group of people whose support is boundless.

12. What do you think of our site?

What you're doing is essential to spreading the word; it's really challenging to gain traction, especially when you create heavier music.

13. Something to add?

I invite you all to watch our live shows and experience the moment. We provide entertainment for both the eyes and ears.
