Behind The Artworks: AITTALA - Machines (2025)

The artwork comes from the 1927 movie ‘Metropolis’.

 

With this release, as with all others, it can be stressful trying to come up with the perfect artwork.

 

For me, artwork ideas/concepts will just come out of the blue when least expected. Originally, this EP had different title and I kept trying to brainstorm an artwork concept for the original title.

 

Then I decided to pivot to ‘Machines’ as the title and it just hit me that something like the robot from Metropolis would be a perfect fit. After some research and finding out that ‘Metropolis’ is public domain, there wasn’t an issue of using the exact image from the movie.
